Pulsating - Throbbing - Tingling Vagina

By August 5, 2003

Follow me on:

Women's Health Forum:
Have been experiencing a constant pulsating/throbbing sensation within my vagina - similar to when an arm or limb has fallen asleep. A sort of tingling

for the last two weeks. Sitting/standing/lying down makes no difference. Cannot imagine what this could be. Pored over the net for days without finding a proper explanation. I am 51 - regular periods - hypothyroid sufferer. No menopausal symptons. Had regular batch of menopausal tests done in June. Would appreciate any feedback please! What do you think?

(4) Karen K. says:

I have been experiencing similar feelings, although to me it almost feels like a 1 second mini orgasm. I always feel it on the left side of the inside of my vaginal wall, about 1/2 inch or so in. I could be sitting, standing, laying down. It is very annoying and I don’t like it. If anyone has any information it would be helpful. I’m 46, perimenopausal, still have regular periods. Does this have something to do with the change? Could it be parasite?

I have been trying to figure out the same thing. Although, I do think that mine is a little different. I constantly feel this pulsating feeling in my vagina. I have felt it for a while now, and it can get so annoying, to the point that I cannot sleep!!! I have had enough. I had it before I had sex, and I did think it would stop once I lost my virginity, but it hasn’t. In fact, I think it has become more intense!! It’s like a pulse or heartbeat, that is like…thumping in my vagina. It is a a similiar feeling that I expereice when my husband orgasims inside me. But it continues after!!! And If I don’t have sex, then I notice the feeling as soon as I lie down!!! I have had enough. It is really annoying, and it is affecting my sleep! Please help!!!!

Ok I posted in the past and ladys we have PGAD (persistant genital arousal disorder). It was first reconized as an actual medical disorder in 2001. Alot of doctors havent even heard of it yet. ladys there is also a support group for this. they still dont know how you get it or how to stop it. women this is real and we must research and stand up so we can find the cause and the cure. I will keep praying for all of us who have this disorder. KEEP STRONG.

I have the same thing. It’s making me go crazy. I can’t sleep sometimes and it only happens every so times a year. The person I talked to about this said that it’s possible that it may be a UTI.

Two things with all that ive’ read that it could be.. Herpies, or a yeast infection.

(21) lina says:

I’ve been having the same problem for about a week now. First I thought it could be bladder infection or chlamydia, but it feels different. I can’t find anything online that’s even close to my symptoms. It’s really really annoying and uncomfortable. Help me!

April 30, 2008 at 9:06 pm
(22) tarra says:

I have the same thing and my doctor is testing me for diabetes and testing my thyroid.
He says it is actually very common and that likely it goes misdiagnosed as a yeast infection. The difference between this and a yeast infection is discharge. If you have any, he said likely a yeast infection and you can buy a kit at the drug store.
If you have none, request that your doctor order a blood test for any abnormalities in your glucose (diabetes) and any abnormalities in your thyroid.

I will update when he gives me a diagnosis.
Its really annoying whatever it is!!

I am very excited that I am not alone in this very annoying problem!!!! I first thought it was because I changed the brand of pads I use but it has not stopped and it has been 2 weeks. My symptoms are as everyone elses …please write if any of you find something out. I have a call into the doctor & hopefully she will have if not an answer at least an explination.

(25) Cherri says:

Hello, I am 31 will be 32 in July and I’ve experienced this throbbing/pulsating feeling about a week after my menstral cycle and toward the end of ovulation. Yes, the sensation last about 2-5 seconds and sometimes has a bubble like feeling but nothing comes out. I’m usually intune with my body and I’ve never experience this feeling before. However, am amazed to know women of different ages are experience this same problem. I have decided to make an appt. to see my gyne. I will be happy to post whatever information I receive. Take care ladies. I will pray about this unknown medical condition and for you all. Be Blessed.

(27) eah says:

I can’t believe noone yet has an answer for this. i’m editing an erotic, steamy novel now and this – persistant genital arrousal condition is driving me brezerk. I need a cigarette and i don’t even smoke. I wish there was something to do to stop it! It’s interfering with my work!

May 21, 2008 at 2:15 am
(28) Cherri says:

Maybe we all should determine if stress, a particular drug, foods, herbs or chemical that offset this problem. We might all have a common link to this problem. Havent made it to the doctor yet. We might have to go public to get the problem recognized.

(29) lina says:

Hi, I left a comment about 3weeks ago. ever since, I visited 2 different clinics, and they diagnosed me w bladder infection and yeast infection, so I thought the throbbing/pulsating feeling was because of those 2 infections. I went back to the clinic the other day, and my doctor said the infections are gone, but guess what, this throbbing/pulsating sensation is still there!!! which means this has nothing to do with those 2 infections I had.
I’ve been having this problem for about a month now. It’s so annoying!

(35) Fran says:

Thank God I’m not the only one!!!
I’m 19 and I’ve been getting the tingling sensation, it seems to be when I sit down but it’s getting more frequent. I was panicking that it was a symptom of an STD/STI, so the fact that so many more people have it is kinda putting my mind at rest.
It’s annoying, and I’ve started to get lower abdomial pain, like menstural cramps.
Anyone got ANY answers??

July 4, 2008 at 8:54 am

(39) Rachel says:

I have the same feelings at first it was here and there, but now it’s all the time. It gets worse when I think about the pulsating or the tingling. It also feels a little goopy, like it starting to get disharge..when I go to the bathroom to check for disharge. There’s nothing there more then the normal. At first I thought there was something wrong with me, becuase I though everything was turning me on. Like if there was a child on T.V. and I would have that pressure and tingling..I thought it was, becuase of children and I flipped out..but now it’s all the time when I’m doing nothing. Did anybody else freak out like that. Like they thought everything was turning them on? I Also, have to pee every 30-45 min and every hour at night.
First started expierncing it a month ago, June 15

i’m 15 almost 16 and i’ve been having this same problem for about 3 weeks close to a month now and its driving me insane i can’t sleep at night and its making me crazy i’m so tired but can’t sleep and it’s because of this constant throbbing pain, almost like a small orgasm, tingles and throbbing and it’s all the time no matter if your sitting, standing or laying down and it’s getting to me i’d have tried anything to help make it stop just for a little while so i can sleep i haven’t had a decent nights sleep in almost a month so my best advice to those others like me DRINK ALOT OF CRANBERRY JUICE AND USE AN ICY/HOT PAD it’s used mostly for sore muscle but it tamed my throbbing alittle i still have that sensation but at least now i don’t have it as intense good luck finding some remedies this seems to work for me hope you find what your looking for girls..

(42) katie says:

hey girls i found out today at the doctor that my problem was a bladder infection which if i came in any later would have progressed into a kidney infection, and it all goes down hill from there. so i went and got medication and omg i slept today for the first time peacefully in a month.. it was such a relief my best advice go to the doctor and tell them everything no matter how embarrassing it may be you’ll be glad you did after the throbbing and pain stop..believe me especially if you’ve had it as long as i have. it’s torture. but no more.

(43) Stephanie says:

Hi, I’m 18 and I’ve been having the same symptoms, been lasting about a year now. I’ve never had sex…so I don’t know what an oragasim feels like, but I’m kind of praying to god it’s not like this. O.o Or maybe it’s because I’m so sick of it. It doesn’t hurt or anything, its just annoying and uncomfortable. However, I have found a way to make it go away after it starts. or just before I feel it coming on. What I do is sit in a really hot bath, and try to relax and not think about it. A bath really seems to help me, it does not cure it, not by a long shot, but it makes it to away, or almost unnoticeable until it does go away. I’ve had all the tests too, and the treatments, nothin helps. Except a bath. A HOT bath, cold water, cool water doesn’t work, Like goings swimming or something. It REALLY helps. So i’d say gp for it. And its great if you can’t sleep because of it too. For me, it doesn’t matter if their’s bubble bath or not, so I’d say if it doesn’t already irritate you, grab a book n sit n a bubble bath and wait it out. usually just 20minutes is enough. but, i must say i love my baths. XD. Its great for stress too, or pain. It’s like my home remedy for just about anything, to a stuffy nose, to this. And all ya need is a bathtub n hot water. ^_^, I hope this helps!

(44) bob says:

I am a guy, so cannot appreciate the intense frustration you must feel with this problem. I hope you can find a solution. I will say, however, that you probably have some insight into the persistent sexual urges felt by young males and the frustration they often (most of the time) feel in not being able to satisfy the urges. When they cannot be satisfied, they are undoubtedly annoying for men. It basically lasts from the time a boy is 12 or so until, well, I’m 51 and it is still very strong and frustrating when not satisfied, but somewhat less urgent than when I was young.

(45) Vicky says:

OK there’s only one way to describe the way this feels: it’s like I put a cellphone on ‘vibrate’ right up next to my vagina. It’s a rhythmic pulsation every second or so. Very strange and rather annoying. Not a strong vibration, but enough to stop me from being able to concentrate on doing anything! Thanks for the other postings (so I know I’m not a lunatic) but the PGAD that Jes described (#18) doesn’t sound like it’s what I’m feeling, nor is the link that Lina kindly posted (#30). Hmmmm …..

(46) Shannon says:

OMG…I just thought I was extremely horny and I cannot believe there are so many people experiencing the same thing! I am 32 and have been experiencing the throbbing/pulsating feeling for about a month now but I am w/ Rachel when I go to bed I have to get up and pee probably 10 times before I can go to sleep. I guess I will go get checked out for a bladder infection. As for the birth control theory, I haven’t used birth control in over 10 years so it’s not the same for everyone. I just don’t have any pain or anything like that to think I had a bladder infection. Anyway..thanks for all the insight and input. Will be checking back to see if anyone else has any more info to offer!

(47) Amber says:

OMG! I cannot believe that so many individuals have this same thing! I am 39 with tow children and have never had this before. I believe some of you might have different causes than others, as I do not have any pain with mine…just anoying twitching! It usually starts in the morning after going to the bathroom. But will contunue throughout the day. Sometimes it goes away for a little while and comes back again on each trip to the bathroom. Sometimes I feel like I might have burning with it…but can’t really tell as the twitching is so intense! I have tried an over the conter yeast infection cure. But this did not help. I am about to call the doctor and be checked for a UTI to rule it out. I have only had this for about a couple of weeks. I was treated for lime disease over a year ago and have started a couple months ago with some joint pain that I thought might be associated with this. Then today I read this might be also associated with it…nerve damage! Who knows! Hope someone finds a cure for this!

(48) Tammy says:

Hi ladies, I may have some information about this illness. Ask your urologist or gyn to test you for IC or Interstitia Cystitis also known as PBS or Pianful Bladder Syndrome. I know a lot of you do not have pain, but ther are a lot of differnt symptoms. After fighting this for four months I was finally diagnosed with IC/PBS. this illnes is very new to the medical world and there is still a lot of research going on. I had the same symptoms of tingling/ticklish sensation, urgent need to urinate and feeling like I was aroused all the time. No pain, just annoyed. Bladder infection and yeast infection were both ruled out and finally I was diagnosed with IC/PBS. If you google IC/PBS, you will find good information about the disease as well as treatments that are being offered right now. Hope this helps.

August 23, 2008 at 5:48 pm
(49) Tammy says:

Please google IC/PBS. This is probably what you all are suffering from. I was just diagnosed after having the same symptoms as most of you. Tingling/ticklish sensation in vagina, feeling like I was constantly aroused and having to urinate all the time. I know that it is called Painful bladder Syndrome and a lot of us have not experienced much pain, but there are lots of symptoms. Please see your urologist or gyn to be tested. This condition is fairly new to the medical world whic is why it is frequently misdiagnosed as a uti or yeast infection; similar symptoms occur. Good luck and I hope that you can find some relief.

August 24, 2008 at 11:39 pm
(50) Jena says:

it is called Persistent guenital arousal disorder, this is what we have, but there is no cure for it I have had it for three years the only thing that I can say is that nacadics and any kind of nerve pain really makes the feeling go away but then when you get off of them the feeling get worse. so good luck

(51) Crissy says:

YOWZA!!! I have the same thing. No pain, just throbbing…pulsing. Umm….not sure if everyone is feeling the same thing because some of you sound like you are feeling pain?! Definitely go to the doc for pain!!! I’m 29, and at first I thought I was reaching my “sexual prime” but seriously!!?? JEBUS! One thing we have in common is the hypothyroidism. I also thought maybe there was a link to the new meds I started taking for my stomach ulcer…but maybe not. Who knows but I haven’t told anyone for fear of sounding like a horn dog. If you find anything out, let me know!

(52) rozg says:

I just read all the comments relating to what I’ve been feeling for the past 21/2 weeks. I was aroused naturally in the shower, so I did my thing. I found that the next day i was bothered by this weird tingly, numbish after a limb falls asleep and wakes up again feeling. I thought soap must have been on my hand and I’m having a reaction. It hasn’t gone away. I also thought I must be reaching my prime, I’m 29. I thought I would rule out any medication ideas being the link…I don’t take anyhting but asprin, never have. I haven’t been on any birth controll other than condoms since I was 17. The only thing I haven’t gotten tested for yet is a hyperthyroid or some sort of disorder simular. I have an apt. on Oct.1st and will bring up everything I’ve read, and post any info I can find out. Whatever this constant arousel disorder is that keeps getting posted, very well may be, but it has to be caused by somehting if we’ve all just gotton it sudenly.

(54) Lina says:

It’s been almost 4months. I visited my general doctor and OBGYN for every test I could take(pap, urine, ultrasound etc),,,all came out negative. This week, I’m going to visit a Urologist since on top of this pulsating sensation, there’s also some irritation/discomfort in my bladder area now. It hasn’t gotten worse or better. It’s bad enough for me to take several days off from work every month.

My Gyno doc told me to go see a Urologist first before thinking about the possibility of IC/PBS.

http://www.webmd.com says
“The term IC / PBS includes all cases of urinary pain that can’t be attributed to other causes, such as infection or urinary stones”.

Tests you can take:
“urinalysis, urine culture, cystoscopy, biopsy of the bladder wall, distention of the bladder under anesthesia, urine cytology, and laboratory examination of prostate secretions”.

Good luck everyone. I feel your pain :(

(60) Jackie says:

I have the same problem and always have as far as I can remember. I’m 38 and thought it was something all women experienced and was linked to our menstrual cycle. I also thought it may have something to do with being molested since I was 5 from several different men. A feeling that developed that I should not have experienced at such a young age. I would tell my b/f I felt like I was on fire! My vagina pulsates and throbs like it’s desperate to feel release. It’s like constant little mini orgasmic throbs (teases) that build up and frustrate me until I can’t take it anymore and have to do something about it. My b/f thinks I’m a sex addict, but sex is the only thing that will temporarily relieve it. Unfortunately, it comes back a few hours later or the next morning if I’m asleep. I also get up all hours of the night to use the bathroom. My full bladder will wake me from a dead sleep throbbing to feel some release. After some research, I found this problem linked to PGAS (Persistent Genital Arousal Syndrome), which could have been caused by molestation or some other traumatic experience, antidepressants, hormonal changes (menopause or ovulation) a bladder infection or a nerve problem. I also read there is no cure. I noticed when I’m distracted and extremely busy, I don’t even think about it because my mind is on other things. So try and keep yourself occupied as much as possible, find an understanding b/f or husband and “do it” as much as possible. :) Good luck!

I have something similiar. Not exactly the “mini orgasm” like feeling but I have 3 main things. One is severe itching; came on all of a sudden yesterday, bleeding and a feeling like(warning this is gross)some big glop of discharge is way up there and needs to come out. I’m 47, perimenopausal and the night before last I went to the gym and sat in the hottub. That may explain the itching but I doubt the tub was infected b/c the gym is very very clean. How about the bleeding? It’s exactly 2 weeks AFTER my period. I’m tending to think hormonal.

I have been having a lot of trouble for about a year now. It feels like the inside of my vagina has a heart beat and throbbing, sometimes my insides feel like they are falling out of my crouch, sometimes it will feel like I am having a rod shoved straight up in me or a knife stabbing me in the uterus, and to have sex it feels like my insides are going to explode, if I sit down too hard it will do the same thing or if you push on my belly and uterine area from the outside. I chronically itch on the insides of my labia and the more I scratch it the worse it gets. I can’t take it anymore I have been to the ER about it a couple of times and my OBGYN too!!! I asked her if it could be my bladder but she didn’t think it could be. My pap smear came back normal too. I am so lost right now of what it could be!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I am 42 and the symptoms are much worse when I’m sitting down. When I sit on a chair, I feel like I have to constantly keep rocking back and forth, pushing my privates against the chair to relieve the pressure/tingling feeling. Once I sit down, it becomes a compulsion and I have a hard time stopping/getting up. I have never been a horny person or overly sexual, so this is freaking me out. I can’t talk to anyone about this, for fear of sounding like a nymphomaniac. I really hate this and it has become a huge disruption to my life. Anyone else with same symptoms (sitting down, etc?) thanks, carmen

Laides, I feel your pain, I am a 20 yr old with normal periods and have been on birth control for the last 3 yrs, same brand and everything, and have never ever experienced something like this before. i feel it right inside my vagina not to the left or right but right in the very middle, and its more annoying than painful. i am a lot hornier than usual and my fiancee doesn’t seem to mind except for im in constant agony. i’ve also suffered from symptoms of a urinary tract infection. so i figured that had something to do with it. and i’ve been drinking plenty of cranberry juice for the past 24 hours but it doesn’t seem to help. i’ve even tried taking midol, it helped for about an hour until i had to go to the bathroom again then it acts like it just starts all over again. i too have lost sleep and right now where i am it is 4:37 in the morning. i knew i had to find something to do about this. i’ve thought about going to the doctor but i have no insurance. i’ve been in pain for about 4-5 days now and i wish that it would just go away. just like whats already been said it doesn’t matter whether you are sitting, standing, or lying down it just absolutely will not stop for nothing. i find myself looking like a little kid who has to go the the restroom but has to hold it in order to kinda subside the pain. if anyone has any information please let us know. thank you Rachel

Hello my dear sisters, I also have ahd these symptoms of continous throbbing/pulsating vibration in my vagina. Ladies – I have had these symptoms for 2 1/2 years (I’m 34), been to a specialist and everything. I think it’s due to HPV as I contracted that 4 years ago..its feels like a crawling/nagging feeling inside. At first I thought it was thrush. Having sex is not a problem but makes the symptoms worse for a while after…I just think it’s a nerve thing myself and nothing much to worry about. There is also something called vulvodinia – check it out. Think it’s just one of those things and one has to live with it.

Ladies, am back I have just researched a bit about Coffee and Tea which both contain caffeine (one more than the other). I read a little more about caffeine and it contains a product called Theobromine which is a vasodilattor, which means dialting the blood vessels. This chemical is used to make viagra which is used to increase blood flow to the penis for men. Ok. When I had these symptoms I felt a congestion inside my vagina like a nerve/vein was dilated and even some of the doctors confirm that it might be a dilated vein(increased blood flow) in the other posts I read over the internet. I am convinced it might be these 2 substances because I stopped drinking tea and coffee and taking anything containing soya on my 3rd and 4th day of having these aches plus the antidepressant ampytriline and the constant aching stopped. So if you can start taking note on these 2 substances and see if you get any positive results. Please update us if you do see any difference so other people may also get assistance to warding the symptoms away. Keeping praying bcoz God is the one and only cure,

I have the exact same feelings. It started around the end of November 2008 a few days after my period. I was so stressed, I waited a few days before I searched frantically on the net for some hope and came across this Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS) and I started to panic, literally hysterical crying before I confessed all to my mum. As an ex-health visitor she’s very understanding and wanted to get me examined but I wanted to wait a few more days to see what happens. About a week later it stopped and I was so so so happy! I didn’t see the doctor.
But now it returned nearly a week ago, again a few days after my period and I’m afraid again, I promised myself I won’t tell mum until Tuesday as I’m hoping it might go before then. It wasn’t as bad as the first time
I’m 19 years old and a virgin, I’m really really scared and I NEED a cure! I’m already suffering with depression and this just makes me feel worse.
I’m afraid it will keep coming back again and again for years :’-(
What shall we do? Is there any hope?

So I woke up in the middle of the night with this pulsating, throbbing sensation and so I immediately started to masterbate, due to the fact that I just thought I was aroused. Which was very disturbing to me. My husband is deployed and in two weeks i’m having surgery.I have endometeoisis, hyperthyroidism and polycistic something or the other. I wondered if this was due to something with my menstral period and hormones. I did get immediate release. I felt like a perv because I don’t believe i’ve ever had a orgasm and I actually am afraid i might be infertile. So call me bazzare when I was excited that this happend because i thought it was an orgasim. Definately going to ask the OBGYN about. It and also look into some of the suggestions of PGAD (persistant genital arousal disorder)and see what the causes are. Thanks Ladies.

Oh thank God! I thought I was losing it! Im 42, never been on the pill, no discharge, no pain and nothing else out of the ordinary except im also feeling the tingling in my hands and feet. It feels like a tiny vibrator is attached to my clitorus and upper vaginal area just humming away with NO OFF SWITCH making me nuts! Any friction (even simple walking) makes me feel like im gonna orgasm right then and there! Pretty embarassing when shopping at Target! LOL! Even wiping after I urinate is enough to set me off! I have a gut feeling this has to do with nerves. I think we should all list any and all medications were taking (if any) and see if any match up? I know this tingling started soon after my doctor perscribed (SEROQUEL 50mg.)for insomnia. I also take plain over-the-counter sleep aid (DIPHENHYDRAMINE, 50mg.) I did read that DIPHENHYDRAMINE can cause “tingling,” but this is RIDICULOUS! Start listing your meds ladies. Lets try and fix this!

I also experienced the same thing and for bout two days. A tingling sensation and then the urge to urinate every 15 minutes. I thought it was just because it was after my cycle but it was something that i never experienced ever. i have only ever had my husband for a partner so I was wondering what the hell was happening.

Candid V Gel for broad spectrum fungicide and trichomonacide to be applied at night and an antibiotic called TINIMA 300 twice a day – ingredients being tinidazole IP 300 mg, excipients q.s.and CETZINE once at night ingredients being cetzine hydrocholoride BP 10 mg.

The gynac said it was a bacterial infection and advised me to check the water that we used as the water for the flush and the small hand shower to wash your bottom came from the same source, which was recycled water. I guess recycled is ok for the flush but not for washing your privates. She said these things happen in ones coital life. she said there was liquid along the walls that had collected.

Over night i felt better. she has kept the antibiotics up for the 5 days. So i hope many of you ladies will benefit from this.

Okay, I am 20 years old and this has been going on for me for about 6 years. It is a tingling sensation that just goes on and on. I have tried everything to make it go away but nothing works for very long. The hot bath helps for one day but the next time I go to the bathroom it starts up again. The tingling gets so bad sometimes that I start to sweat. The only thing I find to make it feel alittle better is to take Azo. I know it is not any type of infection because I have been tested for them when the tingling first started. I also find that if I apply pressure to that area then the tingling sensation gets a little less intense. It is driving me crazy and I would really like to know what the hell is going on. This happens about 4 or 5 times a year. After a couple of days it just goes away. It makes standing around at a job for 8 hours pretty miserable. When I lay down to go to sleep that is when it gets really bad. Sometimes when I have sex it goes away for a few hours but I can’t have sex all day so I need a real treatment. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

(103) Ashley says:

I think it’s herpes. It’d explain why no one posts back after they go to the doctor. My symptoms started after I started dating a guy with HSV-2. I just checked the symptoms for hypothyroidism and a lot seem to fit (i.e. abnormal menstrual cycle, constantly cold, memory loss, etc.). So maybe a combination of hypothyroidism and herpes? Also, don’t count yourself out for herpes just because you don’t have any skin lesions. It’s not uncommon for the rash to be very subtle (resembling an ingrown hair or pimple) or it may even be sub-dermal. I’m making an appointment with my gyno tomorrow because it’s getting rather ridiculous, so I’ll let y’all know what she has to say about it. Also, I experience no pain with urination, and I’m very aware of what a UTI feels like, so I doubt it’s that. I’m taking birth control–the generic form of Yaz–and I was molested as a kid, but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. Come to think of it, I recently consumed quite a bit of Keva and it seemed to accentuate the sensation. Gotta admit though, it does make orgasms amazing. I’ll keep you guys updated.

(104) ashley says:

ladies, i’ve left two previous comments, (88 and 94)two weeks after my last comment the tingling pulsating sensation has been accompanied by guess what? none other than….pain. Extreme excruciating pain. I went to my family doctor, then the hospital who then sent me to a urologist. If you’ll look above to num. 48 and 49 by Tammy you’ll see mentioned IC, now when I first read this I automatically dismissed it thinking these are not my symptoms this doesn’t pertain to me. I am not in pain so how could I have painful bladder syndrome? Well let me remind you from Sept08 to Feb09 i never had pain just tingling throbbing and running to the bathroom. Beginning of March the pain started, so therefore the tingling throbbing onset could be the first signs. I still get the tingling and throbbing but also have pain neither of which happens at the same time. I was told today I have IC. I would recommend that if your problem bothers you a lot pain or no pain you should see a Urologist, I seen my ob/gyn for 6 months with no resolution I walked into a urologist and out with a solution today. Also DON’T think cranberry juice will help, i just found out today there are things that can trigger symptoms and one happens to be cranberry juice. If you have been tested for uti’s bladder infections and all other things have been ruled out consider thinking about what I have mentioned. Because IC is relatively new, there are many undiagnosed symptoms, which could be why we read about this and feel we don’t have it. Hope I helped someone will k.i.t. with details also to the girl above also named Ashley, you might have herpes but we don’t our problems are all unique so remember if your gyno can’t solve it try your urologist just because it doesn’t seem like a urinary problem doesn’t mean it isn’t gynos specialize in vaginal work so they might not be able to solve your problem because they don’t know how.

I have been having weird sensations as well. It almost feels like intercourse, but there is no physical stimulation. It is worse when I am trying to fall asleep. It starts as a light deep pulsing. Then a swirling motion. Then it goes into a push/pull movement, maybe like a thrusting back/forth sensation. It completely freaks and weirds me out! I don’t know if it’s muscle spasms, blood flow, or a nerve thing maybe. Or maybe I am being haunted! lol I don’t know, but I wish it would go away. It is an unwanted feeling whatever it is. There is no pain at all, but it does give me a bit of anxiety because I can’t figure it out. I’m not panicky or anything, just concerned I guess. I tried to concentrate on my heartbeat, but it’s not in any rhythmic pattern to that. It’s just doing it’s own thing down there! I am 30yo, I don’t have children, and am not sexually active. Anyone have any more thoughts on this? Or maybe some helpful links? If it’s this PGAD/PSAS syndrome wouldn’t it be happening more than just at night? Or maybe I only notice it when I’m relaxed? I don’t think it’s IC because I don’t have any problems with my bladder or excessive runs to the bathroom.

Reading that last post seems so silly now, but I did have a urinary tract infection – so much for thinking no probs with bladder. The uro I saw said there was quite a bit of swelling (probably the culprit), and some blood. When he told me that, I neglected to tell him of the symptoms I posted here. A bit embarrassing to say the least! Seem to be clear of infection now and no more weirdness. Hope you girls find out what’s going on with you, too. Best of luck to you!

(107) Sarah says:

There seems to be two (or maybe more)types of throbbing/pulsing/tingling that people are experiencing here. I started to get this pulsing/tingling about 5 weeks ago, I felt it in the vaginal wall, right near the opening but it did not feel like a mini orgasm like some have commented and did not make me horny in the slightest! I just found it very annoying and worrying. I visited this site at the time and just hoped it would go away. Then, about 2 weeks ago, I had the most horrendous pain whilst urinating, I went to the doctor who diagnosed cystitis and prescribed antibiotics. They, with a truck load of cranberry juice got rid of the problem within a few days. The tingling hung around for a couple of week afterwards but now appears to have gone. Though you may have no pain at the moment, it could just be the onset of Cystitis.

I have had this tingling/burning/itching pain inside my vajajay for over a year & I feel it in my rectum also & burning during urination. I have been treated for everything possibile just in case it was an STD but every single one of my tests came back negative. I am so glad that I’m not the only one experiencing this. I will be willing to participate in a research study if docs could just find the source & the cure. I’m FED UP with this thing. I don’t even enjoy sex anymore.

Also this is only affecting the left side of my vagina & rectum. I really think it had something to do with a colposcopy & biopsy(which came back normal) that I got in Dec 07. Because the pain started in Feb of 08 & I have been back & fourth to the OB/GYN with these complaints. I think they damaged something when they took the biopsy(which was also in the left side of my vagina). I’m just losing hope.

(113) SMFL says:

THANK GOD I FOUND THIS SITE. I have been trying to figure out what this is for YEARS. I am 28 years old and this has been reoccurring since GRADE SCHOOL. When it gets so bad that I can no longer sit still (I find myself grinding into my chair), I go to the bathroom and apply pressure to my clitoris. It’s the ONLY thing that seems to alleviate it (for a short while). Every time I’m in the bathroom, I flash back to my FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM BATHROOM, where I sat for almost 30 min. one time after I rushed through a test because it was bothering me so bad.

I read a few things about hypothyroidism and I’ve been getting tests done to see if I have it or not. I’ve been heavy all of my life, and if I did have an under active thyroid as a child, this might explain why this vaginal tingling has been going on since then. I went for an ultrasound of the thyroid Monday and I’m waiting for the dr. to call me. I think I’m going to call her now and tell her about this and see if that’s something.

I am 23 years old and I just wnet to my Dr. and she said it has a direct correlation with crohn’s disease, ulcerative Colitis, Irritable bowel syndrome, and any other problem that inflame’s the colon. Because of the colon being inflamed it stimulates the clit area and creates the problem we all complain about. Also, it’s auto immune so the more stress on your body the worse the problem. Good luck all.

(115) wit says:

Hey gals, I have read your posts and I just wanted to throw my condition out here for yall, incase it matches you- I have Vulvar Vestibulitis. Vestibulitis is more common in men, but 10% of women have it. You have “vestibule glands” on either side of your vagina, and with this condition, they become swollen and inflamed and cause pain. My sensation has felt as if my vagina fell asleep- dull, achy pain that just throbs and doesn’t stop. If you read about the conditon, experts have explained that it cause you to be unable to engage in sex- which is the opposit for me, so don’t discount this theory once you research it. My condition causes pain AFTER sex, but it happens all the time, randomly throughout the day, and it hurts as if I have to have sex. This is why I am posting now; yall sound like some of my symptons, but I can tell you this: my ob/gyn did not believe me when I came in and told her I had the symptoms of vulvar vestibulitis. She then proceeded to do an internal exam where she pushed on either side of my vagina and I screamed out in agony. She has never seen anyone with the condition. There is a Private Practice episode about it; addison gave the girl lidocain injections and it relieved her problems. My dr was an idiot, and gave me external lidocain cream- which I thought wtf am I supposed to do with this? Rub it on my abdomen? Anywooooo, look it up, and note not all ur symptoms may match up, but yall def sound like u have it. I had just had my daughter when I developed it. I described it as feeling like I was needing to “push” out another baby. And also, months later, I’ve decided it is most common to the “black Snake Moan” movie- where my vag just needs release and I have GOT to have sex. Masterbation wouldn’t be enough. But, there is a remedy and it is a condition that is treatable. Lidocain Injections will numb the vestibule glands and I believe I was taking amitriptaline for a lil while for nerve pain. Hope it helps!

I’ve been having the same problem for a few days now and saw my doctor right away. Has anyone recently tapered off of Lexapro or other anti-depressants? There may be a link to Persistant Sexual arousal disorder and having been on anti-dpressants. Parts of the brain get over stimulated and send signals to create arousal feelings. Currently, I am perscribed numbing agents to stop the constant feeling and more SSRI’s. Seems to be helping, but if it comes back I’m going to a specialist. Trust me….I understand! I am a teacher and wanted to jump out of my skin while trying to get through the work day.

Wow, I am so glad I found this. This has been driving me insane! It started about two weeks ago. At first, I though I was horny until I noticed the dull “throbbing” on both sides of my vagina. My boyfriend and I were enjoying this for awhile, but now it’s just annoying. It doesn’t really cause me any pain, in fact sometimes it feels nice. But, the constant pulsing is getting old…

This week I’m going to start downing a lot of water in case it’s dehydration (which can mess with your muscles anyway). I’m 24 and have NOT been diagnosed with hypothyroid.

I’ve been having a tingling feeling on the outer part of my vagina for almost a year now. It almost feels like when you get a chill down your spine (sort of ticklish)or when you are aroused (even though I am not aroused when this happens). Although it doesn’t hurt this is seriously getting annoying because it happens all the time everyday and it doesn’t matter what I am doing. It mostly happens when I am still…sitting, standing, laying down watching tv and lasts for anywhere between 5 seconds and 15 seconds. I do have Thyroiditis, Hypothyroid, and Sciatica so I am wondering if these diseases could be causing it. I have told my Dr about it but she didn’t seem overly concerned and just told me to keep watching for any changes.

I too am amazed to hear of all these women with this problem. I never heard of anyone experiencing this. It started with me about a month ago and lasted for almost 3 weeks. It was driving me crazy. I would have to agree with the one person saying it is like a rythmic palsating feeling. I was already at the time going to the doctors for problems bleeding. Of which I found that I have to have a hysterectomy. I had every test imaginable. I have no diseases so I know it’s not caused by that. I tried to explain to my doctor. He acted like he never heard of it before. But he did tell me that it could of been gastinal. I said, down there!?! He said yes we can have gastinal problems way inside the vagina. Sounded crazy to me… But for that three weeks I thought it was going to drive me nearly insane! It stop on it’s own. Never found out what it was.

Right now when I urninate it has a small tint of ammonia smell to it. I’m so frustrated. I’m going to get checked for STD’s & urinary tract infections soon.

As a follow up to my post – mine has gone away. I am fearing that it may return…

After reading an earlier post about this site (www.twshf.org/anotherStory.html) and my own personal experiences, I think this is a nerve problem. I work in customer service (a desk job) and I sit in a crappy chair that isn’t meant for an 8 hour work day. Fearing I was pinching a nerve, I switched out my computer chair. It’s gone away and I think that helped.

If you are doing something that could be pinching a nerve, maybe that’s it. I don’t know if this advice will be helpful to anyone, especially those who have had this for a long time. But, it’s at least something to try.

(132) Jessica says:

I’m really happy to see that other people are, at least in one way or another, experiencing the same problems I am.
For starters: 25, no STD’s, no kids, no hyperthyroidism, no meds outside of daily birth-control
For several weeks now I have had an EXTREMELY annoying tingling sensation in both the left inside vaginal wall and in my rectum. Along with that, not thinking they could be related, for several months now I have had increasing urgent trips to the bath room. ANNOYING as hell. Swear to god, just went to the bathroom less than 5 mins ago occasionally and right back in I go.
Mind you, I DO NOT have pain of any kind. Nor does this tingling sensation make me aroused in any shape or form. It is just straight up annoying. Laying, sitting, standing…it doesn’t matter.
Now, I know that I do not have a UTI or yeast infection or any of that because I do have PCOS and have had problems with those for a good chunk of my life now. Those are not what this is!! (for me that is)
Anyway, I do NOT currently have medical insurance and can’t afford to go to the dr. So…like everyone else, internet here I come. Days of searching and NOTHING! I’m hoping what I’ve read on here is correct with the possibility of IC. Now with the no pain issue…some say yes and some say no. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get med insurance soon and figure out what’s going on.
I’ve been a medical test dummy since I was 14 and I really don’t want to be playing games all over again.

You should look up white knuckle syndrome. Men get the similar pulsating and a feeling of vibrating from using power tools. It ruptures the blood vessels and damages the nerves. I would suggest that you may be using a vibrator too much and you have done the same kind of damage.

Hi, Ive been reading all your comments because I too was having the same problems, firstly you need to go and see your doctor and explain to him/her whats happening. In my case I am having the menopause so my hormones where getting imbalanced, my doctor has put me onto HRT and thankfully it has stopped all those weird and unnatural feelings, for those who are teenagers I would hazard a guess that you will be put onto the pill, this will eleviate any imbalances caused by mother nature. I visited the doctor who said it might be VULVODYNIA ladies. Look into this as my symptoms were exactly what it is. There are no tests that prove you have got this but nothing else is wrong as tests have been done etc so this is the only solution and there is an anti-depressant to try to help it!Go to the doctors about it!

(144) Rachel says:

I think you should take the time to read some literature on female ejaculation. There is research out there which supports that the tingling, pulsating and feeling of needing to unrinate is a direct symptom of the need for the g-spot to experience an orgasm and for the glands associated with female ejaculation to have a release. Most women who have never cultivated the fact they are female ejaculators typically supress it and never really experience a full release. Best of Luck!

I have the throbbing in my Vagina also. Im 29, but it only happens after sex. I have read that this is normal if your partner is pounding away, or if you are having ruff sex. If you dont use enough lubricant it causes your vagina to pulsate or throb for a day or two, but then it should go away. It also can be a sign of a yeast infection. Most of the time this happens after sex. I havent had sex in several months so i was not used to anyone being inside my vagina, and now its sensitive. I honeslty hate the feeling, but I guess when i get in a steady relationship it will not be a constant problem, and my body will adjust.

I saw a post from someone who said this could be a side effect of taking Benadryl.. That got me thinking because I had just started taking Clariton(OTC) and had been doing so everyday for about 2 weeks when my sypmtoms started. There is a Yahoo group for women that suffer with PGAD/PSAS. You will find hundreds of women on here who suffer as we do. I’ve had this since I was a child and in my 50s now. It is a daily and nightly torture. Sex only makes it more intense. The only thing that allows me to sleep is the drug for restless leg syndrome Requip. Dr.s doing research are finding it is like RLS but of the genitals. I told my Dr. I had RLS and he prescribed me the medication. But now I have it during the day and the meds make me sleepy so can’t take it. I do take it before I get on a plane or a long car ride. Last night was having dinner with friends and had to get up and leave so I could walk. Can’t go to movies anymore. It has been hell the last five yrs. It is now recognized as a real medical condition YEAH!! but still no cure…sometimes I just want my clitoris removed but will that help? Not even sure if that is where the sensations are coming from.

Just this past weekend I started to have a vaginal tingling, itching sensation. It is VERY similar to what a lot you all have mentioned; tingling, comes and goes, no pain, etc. It was driving me nuts, to the point that it was affecting my sleep when I woke up at 3am to it and wasn’t able to sleep for an hour. I have had a cystitis years ago and this is nothing like it. There is NO pain, just a weird tingling sensation almost like arousal. No back pain, no smell, no need to pee, etc. Finally I just got up and drove over to the Pharmacy hoping to find an over the counter solution. I was about to buy a yeast infection medication when I saw my answer. An anti-itch creme. I thought this is too simple. But as I read what it treated it hit me: Antibiotics. Just last week I started taking an antibiotic for a Staph infection I somehow managed to get in my left armpit. The medication is meant to treat fungus infections since thats what a Staph infection is. My guess is that the medication started to affect the PH balance in my vagina. I bought the anti-itch creme and applied it as soon as I got home. So far its working. I don’t know if this will help anyone else, but your conditions could just be a simple PH balance problem. In any case here is a link to the drug information of the brand I bought. I hope it helps! http://www.drugs.com/mtm/vagisil-feminine-cream.html

I too am having the fluttery tinglies…..I read someones post on here saying it might be connected with herpes and/or a yeast infection. I am 23 almost 24 years old, and have been recently diagnosed with genital herpes…… and there is no telling how long i have had it but my first outbreak caught my attention and i went and got checked. everyone says its not the end of the world, but right now im having a really hard time coping with it and i still have yet to tell my boyfriend. the tingling started about a week after i found out. its really bothersome and i am praying its not another outbreak dropping in to say hi… but girls even if you dont have symptoms you can still get tested for it but you have to have a blood test. and sometimes girls and guys will find a pimple or ingrown hair and think its herpes and if the doctor swaps an infected pimple or ingrown hair and sends that off to get tested it will come back negative even if you have herpes. so all im saying is if you have a choice get the blood test its more accurate. Good luck!

Hey gals, I知 20 and have a very similar feeling, though mine feels like it comes from the urethra. I値l get it for days after masturbation (not sexually active). It throbs as if I need to masturbate, but if I知 able to hold off for a few days, it値l get much better. I feel like I need to urinate all the time, and when I urinate, it becomes worse as well. The throbbing drives me nuts!

I知 seeing both a urologist and a gynecologist.

The gynecologist has diagnosed me with Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis. This was after a very painful q-tip test. Unfortunately there is no 素or sure to work treatments with this, but it can be managed. I was given a steroid cream to try, and told that if that does nothing, they can actually try pelvic floor therapy. I was also given an Elival prescription, but told not to fill it until I talk to my urologist.

Now I知 also seeing a urologist due to the urination aspect, and the fact that this, believe or not, feels like it comes from the urethra. I have a cystoscopy and possible dilation scheduled for November. He believes this is either urethritis, and if not that, Interstitial Cystitis (as one woman here already mentioned!)

I have no idea if I have two things going on, or this is all the Vulvar Vestibulitis, but I know it痴 very worrisome and annoying. This is the last type of thing you want to see a doctor for, but it brings hope when they give names of what they think it might be, and what might make it better. Please ladies, see your doctors. It値l get better. :)

If you want my email, let me know. It always helps to talk with someone who knows the annoyance.

I am 24 married with 2 kids. I have had this problem 4 a while. Throbbing pulsating, constant arousal of my clit?. It is causing me distress because it happens at inappropriate times, it made me overthink a lot and second quess myself like am I turned on by this person (who ever I am looking at or with) and when around my kids and other kids I am so uncomfortable and I know its causing me to withdraw from my kids, I just don稚 know what to do. I orgasm with sex sometimes I cannot though, but it always comes right back. I am wondering if its linked to a bladder problem? When I have to pee really bad it痴 a kinda similar feeling just further up there and warming inside, I get releief when I peebut sometimes I am trhobing while I pee and it doesn稚 help, I have frequent urination also I pee sometimes when I really let go and have a good orgasm. Is this normal or related? Anyone else? I am not on any pills at this time but I was on topomax and had horrible side effects I have not been the same since, I feel like it made me OCD, (intrusive thoughts) I took paxil after that to help control them wich it did but I gained weight so I came off it. I have tried lots of depression/mood medicines for depression and anxiety and possible bipolar one person thought I may be bipolar allt eh rest thought bad depression. I am still depressed I just am so done with meds I am scared to try new ones because of what topomax did to me mentally. Its been a year and I am still suffering I believe its from topomax that I have anxiety and OCD disturbing/sexual unwanted thoughts.

(159) Cindy says:

I may have an answer for some of you. specifically to the ones who only feel this on one side. Or to those who also have tightening of buttocks. It could quite possibly be that you have a disc in your lumbar spine that is rupturing or herniating and the nerves in that general area are being compressed or mashed so to speak. I would recommend you all to ask your doctors to get an MRI, because x-rays don’t show up soft tissue such as disc. An MRI will show if you have a ruptured disc. I have had this problem before and I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and only my left side of my vagina was affected. I do have hyperthyroidism too, but the tyroid problems come from autoimmune diseases. Look it up ladies, autoimmune diseases have many symtoms. You don’t have this vaginal problem because of thyroid problems. Another place you can find answers is at the CES website. Cauda Equina Syndrome is the nerves that are around the lumbar and sacral spine. I have had 4 back surgeries to date and possibly face many more. This may not be the answer for all of you but after reading all the comments, I am pretty sure it is the answer for a majority. Also check out CESSG. This site has lots of answers. I really am sorry you all have not found answers yet, but keep looking because you are your best health advocate. Many prayers.

I’m Emily, 30 and I love this earlier post…

Ok I posted in the past and ladys we have PGAD (persistant genital arousal disorder). It was first reconized as an actual medical disorder in 2001. Alot of doctors havent even heard of it yet. ladys there is also a support group for this.!

You can call it a persistent genital arousal disorder if you like, and i love the idea of support groups. All of us, sitting in our chairs, trying not to grind our hot, throbbing vaginas into them, while we all talk about our hot throbbing vaginas with each other, and talk about how we’re all trying not to grind them into our chairs.

Oh GOD!!!

This is exactly how i experienced my first ever lesbian group sex! OH GOD!!! All women get it, it’s normal, and it feels so good once all our vaginas are persistently aroused in the same room together!

Please GOD, Set Up Those Support Groups Now!

I promise you girls, the only thing which eases it is each other. Feels so good to have it eased to by each other!

Do It! Do it! Do it!

ok. so i think i’ve been having the same problem. it started yesterday. it’s a feeling like i have to pee, or i’m having a mini-orgasm. but sex doesn’t make it go away. everytime i go to the bathroom, it lasts for about 5-10 seconds. and then it comes back about a minute or two later. but, when i do go to the bathroom, it feels like i pee, but it’s not urine. it’s blood. like i’m on my period. but i’m not. i’m thinking i should go see a doctor. i was just curious as to if any of you had any advice or any words of wisdom to share?

(163) katlyn says:

comment on this thread seem to be easily divided into two catorgories.

1.), women who have actual medical conditions, when also involving blood, and burning urine etc, which they should stop spending time on the net agonising over, and go see your gp.

2.) women who are ridiculously naive about their own sexualilty, and like many women have very high sex drives, determined by those throbbing, tingling sensations in our vaginas.

and finally…

2a.) women from an anti-vagina, anti-sex, anti-women branch of feminism, who want 2 desex everything in society, and see sexuality as a burden. These women are not allies of well rounded women, who get in touch with their own bodies and drives. They have more in common with suffocating victorian sexual oppression.

I am having a pulsing sensation somewhat in between my vagina and butt. It feels like I am about to orgasim, and then I never orgasim, and I suppose thats the most annoying part. It also radiates pulsating into my clitoris as well, which oddly is annoying. I ALSO HAVE A YEAST INFECTION and hypothyrodism, which seem to be some of the same common issues among a lot of the individuals.

Not sure if the hypothyroisim has anything to do with it but i do know thyroids are a hormone so anything is possible. i did read alot of people who have hypothyroism though have often had their tubes tied, TUBILIGATION and i have had that too at 26yrs old,

And to think I thought I was the only one…this has been happening to me since August. It happened when I thought of a particular person that i have been in love with. That night, it felt like an invisible penis came inside of me. I could even feel the pressure around my vagina as if someone was really there. Now, the pulsating inside has gotten more intense and when i masterbate on my yoga mat (try it)my orgasms are amazing. Multiple orgasms really do exist. I dont think it is anything to be ashamed of and honestly i know why it is something a doctor can not explain. I think it could be something more spiritual. If you are cumming all the time (without the pain) then just enjoy it!!! Why were humans brought up to be ashamed of sex and orgasms??? GOD created it for us and oh my God, the pleasure!!! Now, I’m going to look up and see if there are guys out there who feel that there is a hand jacking them off or a mouth constantly on them. I could imagine most of them saying, “Thank you God, I made it to heaven!!!” LOL!!! Enjoy it!

(172) ..."problem" says:

…wow! I never thought that once I started searching the net for answers that I would find that so many have the same “problem”. I am thankful that my “case” is not as severe as some of you. I am 25 years old, happily married of 2 years, no kids, not on any drugs/meds, no infections, healthy and strong, not on birth control. At the beginning of my marriage my husband and I were very, very sexually active. Our lifestyle changed with moving and such and I had less of a drive for sexual activity. no LESS than once a month we would have sex. On new years we had sex and since then I have been getting this warm, pulsing sensation that almost feels like Im getting ready to have an orgasm. I tried to ignore it, I even try to go pee…nothing but dribble…that’s when I decide to grab my hubby and have sex. It obviously makes sex very enjoyable both for him and I. It does help the feeling subside but doesn’t make it go away completely. :( So I warn my hubby we might be having sex again within minutes. Yes I have also noticed that when I have to pee that it seems to be more often than normal and that it hits me fast! Like one sec Im fine then BAM I have to go and if I don’t, I feel like Im going to wet my pants. I don’t have any pain or discharge, just the warm pulsing sensations. It is not a constant feeling but comes off and on. I have not viewed it as annoying yet since I am more sexually active than I was before…and of course that makes my husband jump for joy ;) . But I do feel that it is odd, so I started to think I was pregnant but not sure yet…still have yet to see if I am going to miss my period. Anyhow… I thought I would share my story too since everyone else out there seems to have done the same. Maybe my story will help a little, who knows. Thanks all for posting your comments….now I have to go pee.

i have what feels like I’m very close to orgasm. The pulsing and feeling a need to complete. Before this started I had given birth 4 months prior. I had pain in my clitoris up until 3 month after giving birth along with some numbness and shooting pain when urination. Due in part to ripping during delivery and I believed enduring some nerve damage during that event. So, 4 months after birth I have no pain and I’m starting to have what feeling like the beginnings of a strong orgasm when doing normal daily activities; such as holding my kids, washing dishes, folding laundry. It’s very annoying and makes it horrible to hold my 4 month old daughter and 4 year old son, I feel disgusting. I don’t have any infection or STDs. Does this sound like what anyone else has?

(174) Anon says:

I know what you are all saying! It drove me crazy! And so embarrassing to tell anyone! It’s not a sex thing! It’s annoying! And yet, in all realities, such a minor thing. At least for me. What I mean is, that little pulsating part of the vagina that won’t shut up! It’s amazing how one little spot can cause such aggravation. I’ve had this problem for almost a year now, but I found a medication that works for me. Ativan. It may not work for all, but it may help some of you out if it helped me. It is prescription, it is not a narcotic and it is not addictive. And contrary to what a lot of people think, it’s not just for sleeping. In fact, I have it because of my phobia of flying- only time I ever take it. But knowing what it does I decided to try it for this little pulsating problem… and it worked. I’m just saying, ask your doctor. I can’t hurt.

I don’t think this has anything to do with sex. Sure, I have masturbated before, but I am still a virgin. I haven’t been in the same bed as a guy either, nor have I had oral. So, this is definitely not from an Std. I did have a yeast infection before though, and a bladder infection right after but i am still having persistent symptoms like a burning and tingling sensation. I am 16 and nothing like this happened to me last year, I can feel the burning underneath my buttocks and thighs also. No only that, i feel like the tingling is accumulating into my legs as I’m starting to feel it there too. What the heck could we have that could possible cause all these problems to the point of crying. I was scared I got herpes in the most impossible way ever, and I spoke with my doctor about it. She said there was no way. She isn’t helping. its like everything I say goes through on ear and out the other. She put all my symptoms off as nothing.

(183) hannah says:

I have had this problem for two months now. Mine started at as an intense throbbing arousal, but is now more of a highly distressing almost undescribable feeling. I believe it is coming from somewhere unreachable inside me, an area behind the bladder or up really high in the vagina. Its sort of like a warm sensation, a sort of arousal feeling, like something needs to be released. There is no pain but very uncomfortable and distressing to me. There is also sometimes some discomfort in the bladder and some slight abdominal pain (may not be connected). Doctors have so far told me that it is a form of my anxiety/ and or depression. However it is the feeling, I believe that is spurring this anxiety and depression…I don’t believe I have pgad as my symptom is not an intense throbbing tingling arousal of the clitoris. I agree with anothers post that it may be caused from havin sex/ or masturbating but not finishing and reaching orgasm. After masturbating it gets worse as I am so anxious I cannot reach orgasm…. Basically it goes round in this cycle of me thinking an orgasm may solve it and not being able to have one, I don’t actually want one, I just have it in my head it might make this feeling go away. Any help would be great……..

(188) thetruth says:

Ladies, I have good news for you. I don’t think you have a disorder! I had the same feeling for the first time when I was 28. Luckily, I had a boy friend at the time. It feels like a butterfly fluttering its wings on a spot in my vagina. Sometimes it even traveled down my leg. My boyfriend to had sex with me several times I was insatiable–it did not stop, I mastubated over and over it still persisted. Me and my boyfriend kept having sex and then I had a G-spot orgasm!! And it literally hit the spot! Most likely you all are experiencing an increased blood flow to that area and it is erect inside of your vagina. Having sex a or mastubating won’t stop it. You have to do something to HIT THAT SPOT when you are having sex (with someone or solataire). When I had that orgasm it was so intense I felt comepletely fulfilled. You can find your G-spot with your finger, his finger or you can get a G-spto locator. It usually easy to achieve this type of orgasm if your clit and G-spot are massaged at the same time. For me my boyfriend and I was missionary and he grinded his pelvic mound on my clit while moving his hips back and forth round and round and I kept pushing into him. That with him pulsating inside of me did the trick! The more you do this the more the orgasm becomes less clitoral and more vaginal G-spot Dont’ mean to be so graphic just trying to help. You can reach this orgasm with other objects as well (toys). I am 37 now and I can arouse this area when I want it makes for mind blowing orgasms. So you see ladies you are blessed not cursed!

Sorry for the typos in the previous post. Just want to clarify I am talking about the tingling sensation–not pain. This sensation is not painful at all it is a fluterry, tingly feeling. It may feel like it’s coming from some abstract place inside your walls. But trust me the G-spot is very real and can be located. It is a physical location that when erect sticks out a little from your wall and feels harder than the rest of your vagina.

Heres my story…..Im 19 years old. Have been on birth control pill for last year on and off, never been an anxious/depressed person before. Shortly after coming off the pill i noticed a slight increase in my libidio, i was more aroused and wanted sex more. I had never masturbated before, but tried it and found i liked it. I did it a couple of times and it was fine, however soon i seemed to become obssessed with it i constantly wanted the pleasure. It then started becoming a real problem as I was having throbbing pulsating arousal from my genitals even when I wasnt aroused mentally and didnt want sex at all. It stopped me sleepng and i became increasingly anxious of these feelings I seemingly couldnt control, i tried masturbating but was never staisifed from it as the arousal remained and it bought no sense of release. Since then I have had these sensations everyday for last 2 months. The feelings have changed, not as an intense arousal, but a constant discomfort, sometimes arousal but not so much that I feel i need to masturbate all the time…just very distressing to me. i believe part of it is mental….and i just dont no what to do , docs havent been able to help so far and im just getting more and more depressed i feel so far away from the person i was. Please someone help or tell me what this could be or how i could get better.

(201) Kristin34 says:

I remember a couple months ago doing this same search… trying to figure out why I was horny non-stop. Having clothes on made it even more intense. BUT— Let’s back up oh… about a year give or take.

I started getting that sudden need to pee. You know the feeling when you have a bladder infection and you are fine one minute and the next it hits you and if you don’t go now- you are going to piss your pants! To find out- once you are in there… mere dribbles or drops are produced… with that horrid feeling of spasms from your bladder. To walk out of the bathroom… and find yourself returning in a matter of time to repeat!

For me it was sparatic. I felt as if I had a bladder infection-called my gyno… went in to give a sample- walked out with a sample of Relquin (sp?) a 3 day antibiotic for bladder infections. But- after taking 1 day… I always felt fine. I would finish them to make sure it was gone. To then find myself in the same situation a couple months later. Lather… Rinse… and Repeat! Months this went on. But for me… it got more frequent. And no sooner would it hit me… it would stop. BUT- for me… what I did NOT put together… is for months I also had blood in my urine. I would see mere traces on the toilet paper after I would wipe… thinking- Hell- I am spotting. I have a 5 year IUD- that I have had for the past 4… so I have not had a ‘normal’ period in years. In fact— I don’t have periods… time rolls on… the frequency became closer… but then I would find that I started spotting… very dark clumpy blood if you will. Not your normal period blood. Again- never thinking… My husband and I would have sex— and I would bleed after… NOT normal… but I put that off on my IUD. Not only would I bleed- but there were often times sex would be very painful for me. Yet I would suffer through it… cringe and allow him to finish so we could be done. Bleeding during and after sex became more frequent… depending on position- would depend/determine if it was painful for me. I had told my gyno about the pain numerous times… and the bleeding. Always sending me out for an ultrasound- they never found anything. So she would send me on my way. A few months ago I felt like I was constantly horny, sex was good- but once it was over and done… that feeling came right back. It was crazy. I thought- like some… I am almost 35- have 2 kids… I must be hitting my prime. But- then I started getting different feelings along with the horny feeling. I really don’t know the best way to describe it- aside from… it felt as if my vagina was being tickled from the inside. Didn’t itch— but this very unusual sensation along with the horny- pulsating… throbbing. NEVER any pain. Aside from having sex… Or when I ‘thought’ I was getting a bladder infection… with spasms in my bladder and even kidneys. So… to try to wrap this up…

A couple months ago- I woke up and started my day. As midday came I felt that urgent need to go. I was in and out of the bathroom so much in a 3 hour time frame. And every time I would go in there- it was a mere trickle or just drops. Well- as my afternoon progressed and evening rolled on… I had to go ‘again’. This time… I wiped and there was a significant amount of blood on the toilet paper. I had noticed hints of blood earlier in the day- but put it off with the frequent need to go… you get the frequent wiping… which can lead to very sensitive and raw skin… I got up- and turned around to see… blood in the toilet. This blood was very different. It was clumpy- it was very thick… yet almost a different consistancy. I almost swallowed my tongue! (My father in law was misdiagnosed 8 months earlier with cancer in his kidney… for a kidney stone… and was fighting his last days of life). Not knowing for sure- when I had to go again… I actually took a mirror in with me so I could look and see where the blood was coming from. Low and behold- it was my urethra! And this time… it was WORSE. I about had a heart attack! My husband had taken our girls to the movies- I was home alone… how was I going to tell him I was peeing blood when he is losing his father to kidney cancer as we spoke…? I called my friend- who wanted to take me to the ER right then and there. I told her no as how do I explain this to my husband. So- when I had to go again… and the blood continued- I had no choice but to call my husband as this time I was freaking out. They arrived home- I had peed in a clear plastic container to show him… and immediately he wanted to take me to the ER. It was late- I said no… I do not want our 11 and 3 year old sitting in the lobby of the ER for hours. Nor did I want to go and sit by myself alone. So- I promised to get up first thing and call our Gen. Pract. and get in. My husband was so worried… in 30 minutes time I had to get up and pee 6 times… not even producing 4 tablespoons of urine… it was mostly blood- with some urine in it… I went- my Dr ran my urine for bladder infection… as well as he had his pathology dept take 9 vials of blood from my arm. Scheduled me for a Renal Ultrasound, and referred me to a Urologist. My renal u/s came back clear- no kidney stones… no nothing… nothing in my bladder that they could see either. My blood work all came back very good… my urine culture- came back with… of course blood in it- that was obvious… but also high in protein and my white blood count in it was very very high. Stating that something wasn’t right. He did give me a script— in hopes that it was ‘just a bladder infection’… which also came back negative.
So onto the Urologist I go… my first appt- really all she did was a health screen. Asking me all sorts of questions… did a quick exam. Sent out a urine sample for cancer screening… scheduled me for 4 weeks later to scope my bladder. Not exactly the best appt I have ever been to… but it certainly wasn’t the worst either. What we did know- was that my blood work and urine screenings all came back with no signs of cancer… but it did show that in my urine there were protein clumps and masses… which told us- we need to be doing exactly what we are doing now. The scope. So- we start- and there is a lot of inflammation in my bladder and bladder lining tissues. We also found a hematoma of some sort. So we finish the scope with having to pee in a cabota… which measures and tells them the pressure of stream… the volume… etc… it was kind creepy! But- yet… very informative once we met with the Dr… So we go into her office… and she is going over the scope results… as we saw the hematoma… which- she said… ‘Doesn’t appear to be what we normally see as cancer. But- I can’t say for sure what it is, why it is there, or what caused it.” Is that what caused the blood in my urine… we aren’t certain. But we do know- that there is the inflammation. The hematoma… and the blood in my urine- along with the protein clumps- which can be seen to the naked eye. But- we couldn’t walk out of there knowing for sure a whole lot of anything. With the inflammation- and the the results of sitting on the cabotta… that measured my urine flow, volume, etc- that my bladder is not working at full capacity. Resulting with…..

Interstitia Cystitis aka Painful Bladder Syndrome. IC/PBS… I read a couple of other posts that women had finally gotten an answer once they went to the urologist. Same symptoms etc… Ladies… I know there are several, several, several medical conditions out there that have very similiar symptoms… and I know a lot of you want to think or believe it is the PGAD Persistant Genital Arousal Disorder… but unless you have gone to the urologist and been scoped to rule out the IC… don’t just assume. I NEVER had any pain when urinating. Not unless my bladder was spasming. My symptoms starts years ago… but never thinking twice about it- until I actually had blood in my urine. I would have continued on. My dr gave me a prescription to coat the inside of my bladder wall lining to help that hematoma heal… as well as it will be something I have to take the rest of my life… there is no cure for IC- but there is ways to treat it. Most being diet. I have to go back… in the beginning of April and have my bladder scoped again. If that hematoma is still there- she is going to remove it and send it out for biopsy. Plus she will see how the inflammation is as well. I find it very odd- as my oldest brother has Crohn’s Disease… and now I get diagnosed with this- both being Auto-immune diseases. Coincidence I am sure… but none the less— very strange. I go to my gyno 2 weeks before my next scope appt- so I can go over things with her as well… see what she feels my best path will be… as I have my IUD for 1 more year- I do not plan on having more kids- even though my husband would love to shoot for that boy… 2 c-sections and I am done! But- listen ladies… this is real. It can’t just be coincidence that some of us have been diagnosed with this- and have had the exact same symptoms… if I help 1 person by my story- then my job here is done. I wish I had found this site thread before having figured out the problem before… I would have taken Tammy’s story and really taken it to heart. If you have had other things ruled out, why not see a Urologist- there are women… I have one! At least if you go and have it ruled out—you knocked one more thing off that list… or you are one of the lucky ones to have IC.

This is real- and most people don’t think that is possible… as they don’t have pain when urinating… well- neither did I. Not even when I had blood in my urine. In IC/PBS, the bladder wall may be irritated and become scarred or stiff. Glomerulations pinpoint bleeding熔ften appear on the bladder wall. Hunner痴 ulcers用atches of broken skin found on the bladder wall預re present in 10 percent of people with IC. Some people with IC/PBS find that their bladder cannot hold much urine, which increases the frequency of urination. Frequency, however, is not always specifically related to bladder size; many people with severe frequency have normal bladder capacity when measured under anesthesia or during urologic testing. People with severe cases of IC/PBS may urinate as many as 60 times a day, including frequent nighttime urination, also called nocturia.
IC/PBS is far more common in women than in men.IC can affect anyone. More than 4 million people in the US have IC. Between 3 and 8 million women and 1 to 4 million men in the US may have IC. Estimating conservatively, that’s 1 out of 77 people who have IC. Or, if further research supports the higher prevalence rate, that痴 1 out of every 28 people. That’s more than the number of people with breast cancer, Alzheimer’s diseases, and autism combined.

For more info on IC go to http://www.ichelp.org I hope that this is helpful to at least 1 person… As had I found this site before I was diagnosed— it certainly would have been very very helpful to me. And ladies- stop sit back and think… if it matters to you and you want ansers- the only way to get them is to get it checked out. See a uroligist… I never imagined I would be seeing a urologist- hell I am only 34!

about 4 monthes ago, I woke up one night having a very bad tingle, tried to pee, but it wouldnt come out, I felt like something was blocking me. I meditated for a while and my urine came out with a force! it was such a powerful release like I had a tidal wave of orgasm.
ever since this happened to me, I started squirting during orgasm, which made me think I was peeing, but it clearly was not urine, as I usually go to the bathroom before and after. besides, I have been reading a lot of female ejaculation and awesome it is to achieve it.
2 weeks ago, I woke up at night with an intense itch and tingling couldnt pee again. I thought it was UTI, and decided I would goto the doctor if I saw blood in my urine, but I was urinating fine in the morning, no pain, no lack of release…it was satisfing to pee.
I took pleany of AZO and drank plenty of water and was relieving myself fine, except after finishing, I would feel a tingling sensation on my Gspot. I have great sex with a monagamous partner and it feels good to have sex. I dont have abnormal discharge or odor… it just tingles as I am finishing peeing… what is this..!!?!?!
it comes and goes… when I wake up, its the most intense, and throught the day, I completley dont feel it till I go pee…

Wow, I can’t believe this article was in 2003, and comments started back in 2008, and there are still recent responses!!
Anyways, I have just been having the awkward throbbing going on down there and I am so happy to have found this site because others have experienced this too. BUT what is the real answer of why this is happening??
How is it that this cannot be pinpointed? I’m actually really concerned right now. I have an appt in a few weeks but I am just sooo anxious to make it stop! It started maybe a day or 2 ago…and throbs for 1 sec then goes away, and comes again whenever it feels. It IS ANNOYING. I don’t know if I have a yeast infection but I do know that I had a UTI about 5 months ago…(which was horrible!)
There is no pain right now, just a light awkward throbbing on only one side, of the labia (outer). Please…help.

Well.. I’m unsure whether mine is like any of yours. I’m 17. Never had sex. The feeling I get doesn’t hurt, it’s just like a pulse. Like a pulse you get in your thumb or elsewhere. It’s not that strong but I still feel it. It doesn’t stop me doing anything, it’s just annoying and I was just curious. I don’t use birth control because I’m into girls anyway and I don’t get any discharge or anything. Could it just be a pulse like you’d get in other places?

i get the tingling feeling maybe once every few days, and it only lasts a minute or two. i have no pain, and no urgent need to go to the bathroom. are there any other ideas, or could it really just have fallen asleep like any other part of the body, maybe from crossing my legs too long? if it makes a difference, i use a vibrator occasionally… not sure if that could be causing it, though it doesn’t seem to happen any more frequently after i use the vibrator than any other days.

(216) Jessie says:

I am 21, this started last night and I literally thought I was sitting on my phone and it was on vibrate and I have absolutely no pain. My boyfriend looked at me like I was crazy. We hadn’t had sex for a week so I thought maybe I just need to have sex. We did and the vibrating went away for a couple of hours. I have now woken up from the vibrations starting and stooping at about 2 am today and have been reading everyones stories.
I too have a thyroid condition, hoshimoto’s thyroidism and hypo. After being diagnosed my hormones were out of wack and I had a 3 month long period and had severe itching. I change birthcontrols which help the bleeding and I was tested for everything under the sun for the itching. The gyno did a skin biopsy and determined I have lichen sclerosus. This is usually in women going through menopause or children before they start puberty, however in rare occasions it can happen to women at any age. Basically the skin becomes thin and VERY sensitive!!! Basically anything can irritate it. Exetreme itch, pain and sometime burning and not always all at the same time. So I would take a look in to that for those who are in pain and irritated.
I saw the gyno on tuesday for my yearly exam (of course before this tingling started happening) and I mentioned to her 2 weeks ago I had a mild UTI and my lichen sclerosus had been acting up but I feel better now and during the exam she accidentily pushed my nuva ring birthcontrol in to me causing a ton of pain. Now that I am experiencing the tingling I am going to give her a call to see if this is a rare symptom of the lichen or the thyroid, bladder related or if it nerve related (it did start after I saw her). I also have a reaccuring pinched nerve in my back and yesterday I went for a walk with my doberman who jerked me around the whole time causing my back to hurt yet again which could be causing nerve issues elsewhere. I will check back in as soon as I know something.

I previously left a comment regarding the tingling on my labia and vagina and felt I should update all you on this.
I finally went to my OBGYN. the GYN told me to take yeast meds.. I did. no improvement..
3 days later, I went to my regular doctor and got my urine tested. results came out negagtive with the dipstick.
they sent to urine to a lab to find out I have UTI.
this was quite a shock, as I did not have any other symptoms of the ‘usual’ UTI, meaning not being able to urinate, blood in urine, sharp pains…
so, this being said, you need to check with your doctor, as UTI will need antibiotics to get rid of… urgh.. I know… I wish these meds were over-the-counter like european countries…

March 23, 2010 at 11:37 pm
(220) Jessie says:

I wrote before, #216, and I thought I would check back in after my gyno appointment today. So she did do some culture tests and said that she wanted to talk with her associates about the vibrating. She also did another urine test which came back that I didn’t have a UTI but I had ketones (blood in my urine I am pretty sure). Ketones are often related to diabetes, which I don’t have because I was tested in recent blood work. So it is most likely a result of dehydration. She said that from puberty and on girls should drink about 8 glasses of water a day. She said most women do not realize this nor do they actually drink that much water. She then explained that vibrating is extremely uncommon, so she will have to look into it more, but thinks that it could be a rare side effect of dehydration with a simple solution. When you are dehydrated you may not realize it because you are taking in fluids just not enough, but your body is made up of approximately 70% water so our body knows it which can cause your body to be stressed. Stress and dehydration each can cause tons of symptoms including effecting nerves which is most likely to be whats vibrating and the nerves are very sensitive in and around the vagina.

I also told her about all the stories here and she said that this is extremely uncommon and that slight vibrating and no pain or frequent urination can simply be not drinking enough water. She said that I should should write again and explain the importance of a regular sleeping, eating healthy and drinking lots of water could be all we need. So everyone drink up!!! 8 glasses or 5 to 7 bottles of water. She also recommends seeing a doctor because we are all different and some of the women on this site could have a bacterium that would need to be treated.

So there really isnt one, two or even three right answers it could anything, but the water experiment really cannot do harm so we really have nothing to lose.

I will check back in again when my test results come back and I have more information…. hope this helps!!!!

(224) Ronnie says:

I am a 53 year old male. When I was 12 years old I began having very strong sexual sensationsons in my left side in a little area just right above my left thigh, just above my genital. It became so intense that I began masterbating although at the time I did not know what masterbation was. When I would do that, it would just more intensify, driving me into a hot wild sexual frenzy with myself, bumping and slamming against the wall in my bathroom as I moved wildly along the floor ejaculating at the same moment. When I was done, I had knots and bruses about my head and body from banging my head, elbow, and knees against the door and wall while I was in a masterbating frenzy. I did’nt realize I hurt myself until I was done. I would do this about 10 times a day everyday at 12 years old. The high sexual intensity masterbation continued until finally at 14 I began cutting school (Jr. high)and going around raping women and girls by the dozens. That was 39 years ago. I was never caught. Back then I later somehow on my own lost the nerve to continue those acts, and would’nt dare to do it anymore. And now, as a mature 53 year old adult, I wonder if there are any men out there that as young boys,or teen agers that had those same intense masterbation experiences and did rapes and was never caught, but grew up to never repeat it again, and live normal lives? I wonder if this (although as terrible as it is) is a secret phrase that other men have also done as boys at one time? Do some boys at puberty have such a high abnormal sexual craving that they actually go through a raping phrase such as I went through? I never went back to that again. Was I the only boy to go through that short period phrase? And I do apologize to all who are offended at reading this, but I really want to know. Was I the only one? Is this more common than we know? How many boys or teen agers secretly do the same thing, or have done so in the past?

Hi everyone,

Well I have also been a sufferer of these tingling/stimulating sensations, which I initially termed “zizzzing” lol This started about 4 years ago and I thought it was UTI’s so I kept going to different doctors thinking that they were doing something wrong, and the tests kept coming up clean. Finally I went to my GYN and they did an ultrasound and another UTI test and everything checked out fine once again. That’s when she referred me to the urologist. So initially the urologist thought it was bladder spasms and prescribed me Enablex. It didn’t really make any noticeable difference, but after a few months of being on this medicine, my symptoms vanished. Over the last few years I’ve had an occasional occurence where I take the Enablex for a few days and I’m fine. However, 2 months ago the symptoms came back and I’ve been taking the Enablex every day since, without relief so I decided to go back to my urologist. Today my urine checked out clean once again. When he did the exam and pressed on my bladder I thought i was gonna shoot through the roof! But not from pain though. It is that area right behind your pelvic bone that sometimes i just wish i could dig my fingers into to stop the sensation. He told me he thinks I have PBS/IC (Painful Bladder Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis), even though I don’t have what I perceive to be “pain” and prescribed me Imipramine. When I went to pick up the prescription I saw that this is an anti-depressive and freaked out! I called the office immediately and they explained it is a very low dose and is used to treat bladder issues, IBS, etc…. It has something to do with relaxing the smooth muscle or something like that… I still asked if there was anything else they can put me on but they want me to try this first. The doc said to take it before bed because it will probably make me sleepy so I just took it about 2.5 hrs ago and I don’t feel any different than normal. So that’s a good thing. We will see what happens… I have to go back to see him in a month and reassess… I will keep you all posted! And I would say that it is worth it for any of you that are having these sensations to pay a visit to a urologist….

I really wish you all the best of luck! And I am really glad I found this thread because up until now I really felt like I was some wierd kind of crazy sex addict or something…

Wow – this is great to read all the women that have this! I just started experiencing it 2, 3. My stomach also feels very bloated even if I don’t eat much. I think it’s off to the doctor I go in tow with all these comments. Thanks for sharing.

I have been experiencing this throbbing feeling 24/7 since
Feb 0f 2008. Diagnosed as pudendal nerve neuralgia and
pelvic floor pain. I had surgery for the nerves and doctor said it could be years before the nerves heal since nerves heal so slowly. Mayo Clinic suggested the book, “Heal Pelvic Pain”. It has a lot of pelvic exercises that might work for you. It seems to help some. I was told that the problem could have originated from too much heavy lifting, too much exercising, difficult child delivery, and more. I have been going to every doctor and specialist since 2007. I promise to get back when I find out what works for me.

(242) Ali says:

Hi everyone! I, too, have been having this pulsating feeling on and off for a while now. It only used to happen when I got super stressed or super aroused. Now, that feeling has been there constantly for the last month. When I was younger, I caught my parents and their misters/mistresses having sex a lot. My father’s friends used to tell me how beautiful I was as a young girl. (This wasn’t your normal “oh honey you are so beautiful” this was the “jeez girl, you damn fine. come here and sit on my lap, I gotta let you feel something”) So at first, I attributed these feelings to being extremely uncomfortable and guarded around older males. I even remember telling my mom when I was 5 years old that there was a “heartbeat in my vagina and it won’t go away”. Since then, I have talked my way through these problems with a counselor.
I am 24 years old and married now. My husband in no way makes me feel uncomfortable. He is the greatest! So why should I start to get these throbbing feelings again? I decided to go to the doctor after truly believing that I was going to go crazy. I described these feelings as “an extreme fullness in my vagina. It’s like being aroused constantly minus the sexual feelings”. She thought it was because of the birth control I was on. I had been on bcp for about 6 years, and had to keep switching brands due to side effects…So I switched from pills to the NuvaRing about 3 days ago. (Yeah, I know. I have these strange feelings in my vagina and I’m going to switch to a birth control ring that I need to shove in my vagina?..haha. I cannot feel the ring at all) I know I have to give it some time to work…but it’s so hard! For a usually upbeat and happy person, I am getting so depressed because these feelings won’t go away. Showers, hot baths, intercourse, masturbation…even taking tylenol pm doesn’t help. I cannot sleep. I feel I can’t function properly because I feel that there is “something wrong” with me and people will notice.
I am starting to see a connection between birth control pills and our ‘vaginal misadventures’. I am beginning to question the thyroid now too. There is a family history of thyroid disease in my family…my grandmother was hyperthyroid at age 19, then found out she had thyroid cancer, had a total thyroidectomy…my cousin is also hyperthyroid…so here I am with a complete cold intolerance but still manage to sweat perfusely, anxiety…makes me think we are on to something…
I’m so happy to know that I’m not the only one feeling this way. However, I am not happy because I know how frustrating this is for all of us.

For gods sake ladies go to the Dr. Have a blood test to determine in you have herpes. One of the symptoms from Herpes is nerve tingling, itching, pain in the local area of the infection. If you do not have an infection have them check for herpes. Wow, if I had tingle in my johnson for more than a minute or so that kept coming back i would have it and myself at the Dr ASAP. I hope all you find out what your problem is and receive a fix of sorts. Good Luck.

I have been having the same problems. It’s like a throbbing, pulsating pain. It’s not intense, it is just dull and constant. It happens to be for a few days once a month. I am married and in my mid-twenties. I calculated when my periods come, because I am pretty much regular every month. The calculation that I found gives when I ovulate also. The ovulating dates that I found that I have, are when I get the pain. So I suppose it happens for me when I am ovulating. If any of you ladies think that that may be the case for you, go to kotex.com and they have the period results and an option to see when you will be ovulating next. That may be what is happening to you.

so when i found this site i was all excited i thought people knew what i’m going threw. then i realized i’m still weird.

i’m 19 and get stressed out way to easily. so at first when people mentioned stress i was like ooh so thats why it feels all warm and tingly n like something is in there. its so annoying, i almost want to cry. I got out of class about an hour ago and since then i’ve just been sitting in my bathroom waiting for the feeling to go away.

it does feel like a mini orgasm but at the same time it feels like i have to pee… honestly i’d rather be stuck with just the orgasm feeling then the have to pee feeling. at least then you feel free to walk around and be more then 5ft away from a bathroom.

oh right im getting off point. the point is this isnt the first time this has happened to me. no it isnt a bladder infection. i don’t know what it is but, for me, it seems to happen once or twice a year. last year it lasted like a month. but IT WENT AWAY!!!

last year i told my mom about it and she said never felt any thing like it so i know its not hereditary. problem is that now its happening again and im not in high school any more, now im paying for my education and im suppose to direct a video in 4 days. if this is anything like last time it wont stop until im so sick of it and used to it i dont even realize it stops.

this time i think im going to document everything i do, maybe i’ll find a cause or cure. if not maybe i’ll be able ot figure out something.

idk bout the rest of you, i know it doesnt seem to stop for you guy :( but maybe me figuring out why this happens to me could help you guys… or at least shed some light on whats happening uh “down there”

oh and i’m also on birth control… i take yaz and get my period ever 4 months. i dont have any any thyroid problems but i think my dad does, and im border line animic. just incase any one is keeping track of our um disorders

i think id rather have cramps :(

Since I was little I’ve been having at least once a week this thinning orgasmic sensation in my sleep. I honestly never has and problems down there and wish the sensation would last longer.
I’m always in fetal position when it happens too and find myself squeezing my inner theighs to make it happen.
I don’t think it’s annoying tho but for some reason it’s NEVER an orgasim. It’s just a good throbbing sensation…( cause there’s never wetness after) just have to pee.

(260) naenaee says:

Women with vaginal discharge without itching can bear it for many years without complaining.

But vaginal discharge with itching tends to be much more uncomfortable.

Vaginal itching may be so severe that it may be difficult to control. And when it occurs in public, it can lead a woman almost to tears.

It is not uncommon to find a woman heading for the nearest washroom just to scratch herself in private.

Causes of Vaginal Discharge with Itching

There are three main causes of vaginal discharge with itching:

* Infection by Trichomonas Vaginalis.
* Infection by Candida albicans (vaginal yeast).
* Infection by N. Gonorrhoea.

Other less common causes are:

* Postmenopausal Vaginitis : Postmenopausal vaginitis occurs mainly due to a deficiency of estrogen after menopause – this causes the vaginal cells to be more susceptible to infections.

* Secondary infection of wounds, abrasions, burns and tumours in any part of the lower genital tract.

* Generalised itching all over the body due to causes like jaundice may appear to cause vaginal itching with discharge, although the discharge may be due to a normal physiological discharge.

Trichomonas Vaginitis or Trichomoniasis as it is also called, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a parasite, the Trichomonas Vaginalis.

The organism can be found both in the male prostate, prepuce of the penis and urethra as well as the vagina of the female. The male partner is usually symptom free.

Signs and Symptoms of Trichomonas Vaginitis

* Severe Itching: The main characteristic and the chief complaint of the patient is severe itching. The itching may be all over the vulva but is more in and around the vagina.

The labia minora and the vagina may become swollen and painful from the inflammation and constant scratching, so much so, that sexual intercourse may become difficult and painful. Sometimes, even walking and sitting may cause discomfort and pain.

* Vaginal Discharge: The first symptom is usually a sudden onset of thick vaginal discharge often described as purulent (like pus). It can be greenish, yellowish or creamish in colour. It is usually bubbly and frothy in character. In rare cases, vaginal discharge may be minimal or scanty.

* Pain: There may be pain around the external genital region. The genitals may feel hot and extremely sore with a dull, throbbing pain .

* On passing urine: Pain is worse while passing urine as the acidic urine flows over the inflamed vulva. Many women resort to splashing cold water on the vulva with minimal relief. There may also be an urge to pass urine frequently.

* During the period: Itching and vaginal discharge is more just after the menstrual period ends.

* On examination: On examination, the vagina may be seen to be fiery red in colour and congested. There may be excoriation of the skin and scratch marks all over the vulva due to the constant itching.

Treatment of Trichomonas vaginitis

* The drug of choice is Metronidazole. It is usually prescribed as 500mg tablets (1 tab to be taken two times a day for 5 days or 375 mg three times a day for 5 days). It is very effective in curing up the infection.
The sexual partner has to be treated at the same time to prevent reinfection.

* Other drugs that act on Trichomonas are Tinidazole and Nimorazole.

* Anti-inflammatory and painkilling drugs like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen may also need to be prescribed.

im kinda nervous about it because its started happening while im in class… i thought it was just that i was really turned on or horny.. ive never had sex so i dont know what an orgasm feels like.. but for the first time last night the feeling increased i couldnt get to sleep. it almost felt like i wasnt even in my body though and i almost felt like i went numb.. it can be annoying but for the most part it feels kinda good..i thought it would be similar to what it would feel like to cum..but again i havent had sex yet.

i havent noticed the pulsing in any type of constant pattern like before or after my period it just kinda happens..it usually happens everyother day..

if someone knows what this is pelase explain…

(269) Enlighten says:

I am male (62) but also suffer from strange pulses in the groin area and have done now for a year and a half. The pulses hit me in the area between the testicles and the anus and are ongoing 24 hours a day seven days a week. However, the difference is that I DO know what it relates to. It is caused by electronic harassment and carried out by gang stalkers. I am 100% sure of this and there is not a shadow of a doubt. Iエm not suggesting all you ladies are targets of evil gang stalkers but I am sure that many of you are. There are hundreds of thousands of people being targeted worldwide and women make up 70% of the total. Many are government experiments chosen at random but there are others who have just upset somebody in an influential position and are hence flagged. Once on the list, a target痴 name doesn稚 usually get removed which means that the harassment is effectively a life sentence. Not every target is harassed in the same way but the pervert perpetrators appear to favour the genitals. As I have found out, the medical establishment is ignorant of the phenomenon as is law enforcement. There is no cure and there is no solution. Doctors and police alike refer targets to psychiatrists who then usually diagnose schizophrenia or delusional disorder. Friends won稚 help either. They wonエt understand. It is indeed difficult for anybody to understand unless affected. The target gradually discredits him or herself by relating a story which people find hard to believe. Make no mistake though. It is very real. Read up on it by typing gang stalking or electronic harassment into your search engine and youエll then learn about countless others who suffer the same fate. You won稚 find any information in the mainstream media as covering the subject is prohibited in order to sustain public ignorance. The fact is that technology has advanced way beyond what we have been made aware of. Governments and their secret agencies possess super computers and satellites which can perform incredible feats nowadays. They can be programmed to harass and gradually destroy any selected individual using his or her DNA or EEG while bystanders remain unaffected. Moving doesn稚 help as the harassment follows the targeted individual everywhere he or she chooses to go. It really is the perfect crime and many of us haven稚 the slightest idea what痴 hit us.

I’m 18 and I’ve had this for years. I also agree that age has absolutely nothing to do with it, nor is it a health issue. I believe this is simply something that some girls get like…like genetics! You know how some people are able to whistle, or get their fingers to bend all creepy? Yeah, well, I believe this certain feeling applies to them, including myself. Believe me girls, it has woken me out of my sleep! And sometimes it’s very frustrating. I believe that this feeling triggers when we are aroused, or anything that relates to the sexual emotions. Because that’s the only time I ever feel it. And I’ve read some of your stories, and I’ve read the word “vibrate” a lot. And it confuses me because that is not the term I would use to describe it. I would say more along the words of “throbbing”? Maybe? Kinda after you run a mile and press your finger to your neck to check your heartbeat. Yeah, kinda like that. But in any case, I simply believe that it’s normal. And it dosen’t irritate me as much as some other folks, but I do wish you all the best of luck in finding remedies to fix the issue! Good luck.

I can’t wear underwear anymore because it would rub against me and drive me nuts!! I think there are two different types of symptoms being discussed. Both are important and I am relieved to finally find a place where there are people discussing this sort of thing. My symptom is only the pulsating. Ive been having it for a few months now. It’s not painful but quite irritating. It is a simple vibration every 10-15 seconds in my vaginal area. Sometimes I have it all day some days only a few times. I almost feels like when your tampon gets full and you get that air bubble feeling…except it happens over and over and over. It’s freaking me out. I have tried to pinpoint any meds any activities that could possibly bring this about and I have nothing. It’s like my cervix is twitching in a pattern and rythm. I’m stumped.

I was told that it is nerves and nerve endings, I am very annoyed by this. I recently been to my gyno and have no sti’s. so i guess like an earlier post its just a pinched nerve that is messing with me.

And if so, what did you do to relieve it?!

(289) Julie says:

Oh my god! I’ve been experiencing this for the last 4 days. Nonstop. I’m 19 and prone to anxiety. My mother also passed away 6 months ago. When this first starte happening I started freaking out and thought I was addicted to sex. I tend to freak out about things like that…. having diseases, etc. Because of this, I started celexa a few days ago. The thing is, I don’t think this is in my head! I physically feel it. It’s driving me crazy. All day is a constant panic attack. I don’t feel vibrations, but I feel tingles and pulsing. Mostly tingles. I do not just “need to masturbate” or “need to have sex”. I’ve done both… a lot. Nothing is helping. And honestly, this I’d a turn OFF. I do not feel the urge to have sex. The thought…..no. Which sucks, because before this, I had a wonderfully normal sex life with my boyfriend. I need this to go away. I haven’t been able to go to school the last couple of days. Since my mom (a womens health nurse practitioner) is passed away, I had to tell my dad because my nonstop panic attacks were terrifying him. He’s also a nurse practitioner (in neurology), so it wasn’t as awkward as it may be with most parents. He put me on antibiotics for a UTI because of my frequent urination. I’m praying this is a UTI… Or frankly anything that isn’t that constant arousal thing everyone is talking about. Because that’s just another thing I can’t handle. Good luck to you all. I will post again as soon as I get more information. And I truly thank the original poster!!!

(294) Chelsea says:

I have a similar problem. Except after sex/ Masturbating. It’s like a tingling sensation in your vagina.

The main reason would be because you’ve had an orgasm, and it is settling down.

If you have it constantly, and it gets worse after sex it’s because it is infact an orgasm, and it will go away eventually don’t worry.

To get rid of the tingling, avoid sex, masturbating and eating unhealthy foods; drink lots of water and keep fit. Once again avoid sex and other things that’d cause an orgasm.

Secondly, this tingly sensation may mean you need to pee. Try checking. You may be suprised.

If it still dosen’t go away. Or gets worse. Consult a doctor to see what the problem is. But otherwise I rarely doubt that’d need to happen.

Hope this helps.

I am 48 and have had this since my 20′s.

In a sentence, it is usually about the time you are ovulating.
Our bodies are pretty smart and drive us crazy down there.

Solution, we need and want to make love or have an orgasm.

It is God’s way to make us insane to want the throbbing, pulsating to stop. Having a man inside you stops it temporarily.

Voila, then you are pregnant.

Strange observation – when a mare (a female horse) is in heat,
her vagina “winks” at the back end of her. It pulsates open and shut to let the stallions know she is ready.

fun fun. NOT! I hate this and wish too it went away! Guess I have to wait until menopause!

(296) Julie says:

Hi all– Julie again.

I just wanted to stop this “you are horny” nonsense. The reason most of us are freaking out is because masturbation/sex does not help. Our minds (or mine, at least) are not in the mood. It is purely physical and extremely annoying. Not a “blessing”.

I couldn’t go to school for days. I recently started taking a low dose of Celexa, which is helping me to not constantly obsess and panic about it. Also seeing a therapist which is helping. It is stressful, but the less you stress about it, the less intense the feeling is. I know that that is hard. Trust me. I have to go to yoga three times a week and see a therapist to keep it under control. I suggest seeing a doctor, and if nothing is physically wrong, see a therapist. This does not mean you are crazy or addicted to sex. You may just need to talk to someone.

Good luck to you all.

P.S., The feeling gets worse when you have to pee, so don’t hold it unless you want to give yourself a panic attack!

Wow i’m so suprised because I thought I was the only one! I have had this problem since I was a little girl. Its an annoying tingling, pulsating feeling and it never goes away. I thought it was go away when I started my period (age 11) or when I had sex for the 1st time. I was for sure something was wrong. I had an ultra sound done when I was about 13 and they found NOTHING! After I have sex then it stops for a few days, but it starts again. I’m so confused.

(300) Cmm says:

There seems to be five separate issues here.

The first seems to be PGAD: persistent genital arousal disorder. From what I have heard, it is NOT pleasurable at all, and masturbating only relieves it for a few minutes at most :( There is a new study going on for women that have this, and they are using a type of medication that helps people quit smoking. If you think you might have PGAD, look around online for more info on this.

The second is ovulation. It is true that on or around the time of your ovulation, you become swollen, and more blood will flow to that area of your body in anticipation of pregnancy. It can feel like a tingling pulsating feeling, and you feel like you are about to orgasm at all times, when you are sitting or if you move a certain way ;)

The third is related to birth control, such as the pill, the implant, or the depo shot. I was on the depo shot for a long time, and about three to four months after going off of it, I began to feel the pulsating, throbbing that so many have described here.

The fourth is related to thyroid, I too have hypothyroidism, and I suspect that it may make you more susceptible to this pulsating and throbbing since your thyroid controls hormone release.

The fifth one seems to be an infection of some kind, either yeast or urinary. I have many of both, and I know exactly what people are talking about in reference to that tingling and throbbing, but that one is NOT a good feeling at all :(

I have been experiencing this throbbing, pulsating feeling for the last week or so, and I think it is a combination of four of the things that I mentioned. After reading many of these posts, I believe that in many of these cases, it too is a combination of a few different factors. The human body is an amazing thing!! :) X

(309) NotExactlyTheSame says:

I’m 18 years old and this feeling has happened to me a few times before when I was 17. Yesterday when I woke up, I started feeling it again. The thing is though, I’m not getting the pulsing or tingling near the clitoris or the feeling of an oncoming orgasm. It’s mainly just this kind of dull aching, like when your legs or arms have fallen asleep and it’s right before they start tingling, feeling in my vulva, mostly on the left side. I really only feel the aching when I’m laying on my stomach, back, fetal position, or sitting up with my legs crossed or straight out in front of me. When I sit with my legs spread apart, like in the butterfly position, it seems to go away for a bit but then comes back. I’m not getting the sudden urges to go pee, but I do pee often and afterwards it kinda feels like the beginning stages of a UTI. I have back aches around my right kidney too, so I’m assuming it could be just a UTI. Last year when I had aches, which was only like 3 times and it was when I went to bed, I didn’t think anything of it. I mainly thought it was because I had gained alot of weight. But I have lost 40lbs since the last time I had the aches and have ruled out that factor. I, recently, after being off of it for nearly 4 months, got prescribed Adderall RX again. Yesterday the aches in my vulva came back. I looked up the side effects and I found one that might be why it feels like a UTI. In some cases, Adderall has caused UTIs. But the thing is I’m not entirely sure I have UTI because the first, and only other time I’ve ever had one, I saw blood in my urine. This time, there is no blood. I don’t have a doctors appointment until the 18th. I was prescribed Zinthromax last week because I had a sinus infection that caused a virus in my throat. My last dose was Friday, but it stays in the system an additional 7 days after the last dose. My point is this : Is it the Adderall RX or Zinthromax causing a UTI, or is it something unrelated to those two medications entirely?

well.. after I first started reading the comments I believe it was pgad.. but i am so glad ppl kept to this and added other possiblities. cause now i hope i survive this coming school day to be able to go see a doctor…

(312) Jenna says:

I had symptoms similar to what a lot of you were saying…basically it seems like there are probably a lot of different explanations based on the person, but if your gynecologist isn’t giving you answers you’re satisfied with, you should really check out a vulvar specialist – that’s what I did, and they were able to give me an answer right away and start me with treatment. There are only a handful of people around the country who really know what they’re talking about when it comes to this stuff, and it’s worth looking into. For me the answer was vestibular vulvodynia which resulted from a combination of low estrogen and also a dysfunction in my pelvic floor muscles. A lot of people have really tight muscles in their pelvic floor and this can cause a great deal of pain – but luckily nothing that cant be cured with some physical therapy! So I was perscribed estrogen cream and have started physical therapy and I’m on the road to recovery. I would recommend looking into Dr. Andrew Goldstein – he’s one of the best out there. Appointments can be hard to get but he has offices in New York, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Here’s his website: http://www.cvvd.org/

If you’re concerned and not getting answers, I would really recommend finding a specialist. They told me that so many more women than you would think actually have vulvar problems and just never get them taken care of them properly, but they’re usually things that have such a simple treatment plan.

hope this helps!!!

I’m so relieved that i’m not the only person feeling like this. I was beginning to think it was all in my head. I have the tingling sensation around my vagina and the need to go to the bathroom, at least thats what it feels like. Most of the time it feels worse after going to the bathroom. I don’t find it feels like an orgasm. I’m 20 and i’ve had this problem on and off for about 3 years. I’ve been tested and treated for UTIs to no avail, yeast infections and I was very disheartened when my cystoscopy came up with nothing. (315) Ferniegirl says:

Ladies, I haven’t read every single post so not sure if this has been mentioned before but it could be something called irritable bladder Earlier this year I got very stressed, had these tingling sensations in my vagina and went to the docs thinking I had a urinary infection. They treated me with antibiotics for weeks and it didn’t go away. I even got sent for a ultrasound scan of my bladder – normal. It was only searching on the internet that I discovered what it was I had. Because the symptoms are tingling in that area and maybe an aching (feels quite sexual) and also a need to urinate more (even after you have just been), doctors automatically assume you have an infection. I got very stressed with all of this on top of the real problem that I had in the first place and in the end the doctor realised it was anxiety based and put me on Citalapram an anti-depressant that is great for anxiety. After it had kicked in, I felt much better anxiety wise and in turn had no more bladder problems. Irritable bladder can also be caused by constipation (something I also get a lot of!) and once you have it it can be exacerbated by alcohol (unfortunately) and caffeine. There does not seem to be a cure unless you take meds for stress (if that is the cause) and it is something I now live with. I am not on any meds now and have no real worries so it has abated but today I took my daughter out for driving lessons and got scared out of my wits and it has returned and is very irritated at the moment but I know it will settle. My friend has also been very stressed and her bladder is tingling like mad, feeling rather pleasurable for her but annoying at the same time so it does seem that the nerves around the bladder and vagina become irritated through stress.

I hope this helps. There are probably other causes as well but I am sure that some of you will have irritable bladder due to worry and stress!

But when it first started i thought it was just lack of sex as we are a very sexual couple. We havent done anything in about 3 months because he has been in basic.. Well we didnt have intercourse but be did do oral. And it sent me through the roof. Well it has been bothering me all yeasterday and all today. I have looked up quite a bit on possibly what it could be, but no one seems to have a definite answer, or treatment/cure, which is frustrating to say the least. Kind of feels like a constant need to urinate/ arousal feeling that doesn’t go away no matter what you do. I feel it may be worse when I am anxious, stressed, or angry, so maybe it is in my head? (327) marti says:

it sounds like a lot of you might have what i was recently diagnosed with – PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION. basically what it is is when you have very weak and/or tight muscles in your pelvic area it leads to these symptoms which may be a little different for different people, and so many more girls have it than you would think. there has recently just been a lot of research on it in the past few years, which is why a lot of doctors dont know much or anything about it.

but there IS a cure. i am currently going for physical therapy which involves internal and external massages, and different stretches. you have to learn to RELAX the muscles, so youd be surprised how much it can help to even takes some time and lie down and take some deep breaths. i have been doing this for the past several months and feel WORLDS better. PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE YOU WONT BE SORRY.

google around for specialists and you should contact them, but in the mean time just try to do some basic stretches to stretch everything in that area (legs, back, groin, butt, etc.) you can look for specific stretches, and there are a few books you can buy that tell more about it — one good one is Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein.

Here’s a website that explains a little bit more about this type of problem:

please everyone look into the possibility of this as your diagnosis, and/or contact a vulvar specialist that can explain it a little more

i don understand why this happens to me…i am a virgin…well consulting a few of my bio text books the matters doesnt seem the grave all the time. this may happen because of too much blood flow into the pelvic region. in other words arousal without orgasm. hormone and stress play a vital role in the process. A hot water bath for 30mins along with gentle massage might help. gud luk!

I only recently experienced symptoms of persistent arousal outside of ovulation. I believe this was because I had not had sex for over 3 years, and it awakened my libido, finally, with plenty of oral and g spot. Unfortunately, was out of town and now have to find a partner to continue. We are sexual creatures, denial and drugs are not good for us. Of course, itching, odd discharge requires a doctor, simple arousal does not. Good luck to all, do it yourself or find a partner who can satisfy you completely and often,

Helen – Good for you and your sexually liberated self. Sounds like you were just horny. Unfortunately that’s not the issue for most of the people here as the many, many comments have made quite clear.

As much as we’re sexual beings we’re also biological beings and sometimes the biological systems that make us up don’t work right. I just don why we understand that when it comes to someone with diabetes or arthritis but if it happens to involve sexual organs we’re suddenly convinced it’ somehow a result of not getting laid.

I have a similar sensation in my vagina. Check into IC (insterstitial cystitis), I have IC and think it’s related. Your bladder sits on your uterus and I think the inflammation from the bladder causes the sensations we are experiencing. I thought I had UTI’s but it’s IC.

I have a similar sensation. It’s IC…our bladders are inflammed and put pressure on our uterus, and the urethra rubs against the clitorial area. It’s all in the same area. Get treated for IC and the problem should go away!

(341) Lori says:

I don’t know if I’m feeling exactly what all of the women on here have described. But it sounds pretty close with most of the descriptions. I have had bladder infections, so I know what that feels like and it is not a bladder infection.
I am 33. I am not on the pill and haven’t been for a few years. One thing that has changed recently is my stress level and I’ve definitely been eating a lot more sweets and drinking more diet coke. It may not have anything to do with it but I thought it might help in getting down to the bottom of this. I am not promiscuous, I’m in a committed/monogamous marriage (so I know it’s not an STD)
The way it feels for me is my vagina (inside my vagina) aches/throbs. It hurts when I pee, but the pain is not coming from where I pee, it’s coming from inside my vagina. I don’t feel like I’m going to orgasm but I’m definitely thinking about having sex a lot more and have wondered if that’s all it is (but now after reading a bunch of these posts, I don’t think so).
Have any of you had changes in your stress level, diet, or some other area of your life? Anything else that might have changed recently?

Hi, I’m 16, and I have some of the symptoms you ladies are posting, but, I’m not sure it’s the same. Do any of you find it hard to sit down, I’ve been to the doctor and he’s put me on lacatives, but I don’t think that’s the problem, it’s like a pulsing and it hurts when I pee, I don’t know what it is but I’m finding it hard to consontrate on collage work and sometimes, I’m not sleeping because of it. I have no idea what it is, and I’m not sexually active, so it can’t be that.

it sounds like a lot of you might have what i was recently diagnosed with PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION. basically what it is is when you have very weak and/or tight muscles in your pelvic area it leads to these symptoms which may be a little different for different people, and so many more girls have it than you would think. there has recently just been a lot of research on it in the past few years, which is why a lot of doctors dont know much or anything about it.

but there IS a cure. i am currently going for physical therapy which involves internal and external massages, and different stretches. you have to learn to RELAX the muscles, so youd be surprised how much it can help to even takes some time and lie down and take some deep breaths. i have been doing this for the past several months and feel WORLDS better. PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE YOU WONT BE SORRY.

google around for specialists and you should contact them, but in the mean time just try to do some basic stretches to stretch everything in that area (legs, back, groin, butt, etc.) you can look for specific stretches, and there are a few books you can buy that tell more about it one good one is Heal Pelvic Pain by Amy Stein.

Here痴 a website that explains a little bit more about this type of problem:

please everyone look into the possibility of this as your diagnosis, and/or contact a vulvar specialist that can explain it a little more…and even if this is not what you have CONTACT A VULVAR SPECIALIST and they will be able to tell you what’s wrong..they specialize in things that even a lot of gynecologists have no idea about

(350) MB says:

I have been experiencing this problem for about 4 months. I am hypothyroid (which I know is not the case for many women on here). I have been dealing with a host of health problems lately, but I remember waking up one morning and just feeling CONSTANTLY aroused. I had recently been prescribed the medication Dexilant, for a misdiagnosed ulcer (we’re still not sure what it is). I have had yeast infections before, but no UTIs, so I just assumed it was one of those. I took antibiotics which only made it worse and caused one of the WORST yeast infections I have ever had.

The symptoms were not at all like a normal yeast infection. There was no itching, just a dull clitoral arousal, pulsating, engorged and unpleasant feeling. I felt aroused 24/7 and began to worry about my sexuality. I am in a monogamous relationship with a man and have only ever had sex with men. I have no desire to be intimate with a woman, but feeling aroused all day was exhausting! I began to worry if I had just had a late coming-of-age or something. I’ve always been very sexually aware and have no issues with being of a different orientation. I was just so scared that this was going to ruin my relationship. I couldn’t stop thinking about sex and the pain/arousal feelings I was experiencing.

March 19, 2011 at 4:47 pm
(351) MB says:

The symptoms continued until I finally went to the doctor and received a diagnosis of a yeast infection. Two rounds of monistat and diflucan did NOTHING. I continued to feel pain/arousal and now itching. My poor boyfriend, I was so afraid to speak with him. When I finally did and told him everything he was so understanding and wonderful and completely reassured me that things would get better. We brainstormed and I decided to go speak with a therapist. My therapist recommended I try to find an answer for ALL of my symptoms rather than continuing to see specialists and getting different diagnoses.

I’ve begun doing some research on my own. Since that time I’ve discovered a few things:

– Like some ladies mentioned, diet can be a factor. I learned about candida. I’ve been on antibiotics as a result of sinus infections and other illnesses since I was a toddler. Antibiotics SEVERELY deplete our stores of “good gut flora” or healthy bacteria. Women with hypothyroidism are at risk for this because of the thyroid regulation of our entire metabolic process. The bad bacteria permeate the thin, compromised intestinal lining (“leaky gut syndrome”) causing yeast overgrowth. This can only be confirmed through stool analysis. I have begun taking serious probiotics and have felt a reduction in itching/pain. The constant arousal is still there.

March 19, 2011 at 4:48 pm
(352) MB says:

- I discovered the Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder diagnosis and started crying. I was so scared that I was going to live my life with no answer and that I was all alone. A lot of these women experience yeast infections before developing symptoms. It is worse when I sit and it does go away or subside when I am busy and distracted. I often feel like I have to urinate, even when I have just gone.

– Birth control lowers our immune systems which causes the overgrowth of candida/yeast. It also inhibits a million other processes in our bodies that we need. I was on NuvaRing, which I later discovered is notorious for causing yeast infections, depression, anxiety (I was also waking up with panic attacks over this whole thing, which of course made my symptoms worse), and stomach issues that may present as an ulcer, gallbladder, or liver problems. I have been experiencing right side pain under my rib cage, which is likely caused by this. I have decided to stop taking ALL medications except my Armour Thyroid (a natural, non-synthetic thyroid hormone).

– I have been tested MULTIPLE times for STDs. I am in a monogamous relationship where we both have been tested and use condoms. I do not have herpes.

– After going to the chiropractor, I learned that I have serious damage to my coccyx vertebrae. I am 23 years old and should not have this damage. I have also been experiencing left side numbness in my thigh and calf on the outer side. He explained that is likely the compression of my nerves. However, this is the same nerve that regulates my pudendal nerve. After reading this forum, I have another piece to the puzzle! Many women that have this complain of constant pain or arousal. My symptoms initially presented with a tightness of my vagina, clitoris, and anal area all tingling and feeling aroused. I knew something was NOT right.

March 19, 2011 at 4:49 pm
(353) MB says:

- I have begun deep breathing and meditation. I watch my diet and try to cut out things like antibiotic-injected meat, sugars, dairy and caffeine. It’s difficult and I struggle with it constantly, but I have noticed it all helps.

– Wearing thongs and pretty lacy panties make it much worse. I wear dresses, skirts, and breathable all cotton underwear.

– I still have no idea how to fix it and I’m worried it won’t go away, but I have hope. However, I think my problems are a combination of a lot of things, which is what makes it so difficult to understand. If any of you have experienced any of these things and have any answers, please let me know.

– I am not a doctor or anything, so don’t trust what I say. Please do your own research. I’m just happy I’m not alone and that it’s not “all in my head”.

Pls make sure u drink at least half a pint of water

I started experiencing this recently as well. I recently started a new job as a flight attendant and I have a theory that it has to do with dehydration. (On the plane, recirculated air is super dry). The skin on the rest of my body is freaking out as well, so of course my vagina wouldn’t be excluded.

My diet lately also leaves much to be desired. I attempt to eat healthy but running through terminals, a Burger is much easier to carry and eat than a salad. At one point, I was getting the same tingling on my tongue and found out it was dehydration and vitamin b deficiency.

Moral of the story, try lots of water, minimal alcohol and maybe even a vitamin b supplement or daily vitamin. Good luck all.

Wow – I haven’t read all the comments, but I was searching on the internet for these symptoms to see if I could find a solution. I saw where someone way earlier posted asking if anyone had herpies or a yeast infection with these symptoms. I have genital herpies and was just diagnosed about a month ago. I am 22. I had my inital outbreak (which was hell on earth) and have been off the antiviral for about a week. A couple days after the antiviral I started having all these symptoms, along with discharge and the urge to urinate often. I went back to the doctor and he prescribed me UTI meds. I will be done with them tomorrow. The urge to urinate and tingly feeling when I urinate has gone down since that medication, but the tingly feeling when I am not urinating and the mini-orgasm feeling have not subsided.I will see what happens a day or two after I am off the UTI meds. I hope someone has an answer though!

Been to the female doc & also the female doc specialist. No STDs or candida down there. But now my bladder region has become tender to the touch. But still healthy urine output. (366) Jen says:

I have not been intimate with anyone for several years. And my libido has always been slow. (blame dermoid tumor)

Took awhile to recover from surgery. Also contracted an acute case of Valley Fever (found out last year that I’ve had for 6 years, now receiving treatment to kill it. Long story short; 6 years worth of 5 types of steroids & a nebulizer and prednisone for susposed “asthma” which I didn’t have.

Never accept a treatment from your doc/s without first being shown proof that it is needed. My new docs were horrified that my ex doc was to lazy to test me properly & refer me to a specialist. Told by my new docs that taking any form of steroids that long can really mess up the body. And Prednisone literally strips the body of it’s immunity to anything, including the common cold. Now I receive Intravenous Therapy once a week because my body no longer knows what is good anymore and attacks itself. So maybe this “orgasm in suspension” sensation is just another freak side effect from steroid poisoning?

Hello there. I ‘ve also had this for the last year.
I’ve also been having vivid nightmares.
I’ve been away from home, studying and working abroad. IT has been a great period, I managed to have time for myself and I’ve prayed more and lived a more balanced life than before.
I’ve been to all the doctors for both my sleeping disprders and this strange sensation. They suggested me to take some sleeping pills for the nightmares. I didn’t because I was afraid not to become addicted to them. I have never been dpressed or had any mental issues. I hate that this happened bt I feel like I have to tell you what happened in my case.(I FEEL AS I HAVE THE DUTY TO TELL YOU THIS)
During this “purification” period before Easter (fasting 40 days/ no meat, no alchool, no sex, no lustful thinking, more good deeds, more prayer, more reading, less useless fun activities) this “SENSATION” LEFT my body. I heard it breath desperately for a few seconds near me and then run away. Also, the nightmares dissappeared (DISSAPPEARED) completely. (I’ve been having them for the last 14 years)
Of course, my rational intellectual self refused to believe what happened, but it is impossible because it was true. I talked to a priest and he said that probably dring this time of my life I let Jesus entered more deeply into my heart and received and into my being, so whatever that (SPIRIT) spirit or demon was he had to fly away.
Well, I wouldn’t know the only thing I am sure of now is that I will try my best to live a real Cristian life from now on, and hopefully I will stay protected from this experiences. !!!

Mbe my symptoms are different from others, but pls someone help.I experience nagging sucking feeling in vagina on the left side, that gives the sensation of wanting to have an orgasm, and also a great anxiety, it痴 not a normal sexual desire, as this feeling makes me very nervous, difficult to tolerate it, I am suffering of this for the past 5 years it comes very often almost in a day time, and could be only taken away by an orgasm, that gives the muscular reduction in vagina, and afterwards a day of relaxation, until the next day. In my case it is not associated with the sexual desire as I could be tired, working, consecrating on other expects of life, but this feeling comes by itself, and gives a grate anxiety! Also as it goes away through the orgasm, orgasm is very difficult to reach takes hours, it really drives me crazy and makes me suffer, and if it won稚 be cured by an orgasm this day, then the next day the intense of the feeling would only grow, and orgasm would be very hard to getthis feeling doesn稚 goes away with anything else only orgasm, makes it makes difficult to sleep, and pls mention that this nasty feeling comes almost every day and is more intense after I am tired, have not slept well, or had a stress and smoked cigarettes, nothing has to do with a healthy sexual desire, thus the orgasm is very difficult to reach, as nothing turns me on in my had, just this annoying physical irritation of vagina. I also have to go to pee at night often 3-5 times, I don稚 have any genital infections or in urine I am 100% sure I have did tests many of times, what can it be pls, if someone knows help me!!! I would appreciate greatly for the advise, and here the opinions of others if someone else had experienced similar symptoms. My thoughts regarding this meter is that mbe it could be related with our nervous systembut in my case it comes by itself no matter in what mood am I, and this physical feeling makes me very anxious

Reading all these post was weird, so many women in pain or discomfort and no real solution. I too am on my second month of similar or exact symptoms.

Started with a irritation like a UTI, went to Docs all clear for that, had a KUD (kidney, bladder, Ureters) scan, all clear, had all STD, herpes, pap smear, clymidia tests done, all clear. Doc put me on some Ditropan for bladder spasm, had an bad allergic reaction.

My current symptoms are feel like I need to urinate, like a full bladder, irritation of the citorial/uretha area with slight to severe burning sometimes, throbbing and pulsing ache in my vagina around the gspot area that can also extend to the labia. This is much worse at night, and some days can be fine. But nights general suck.

I agree with others tho that the feeling can be quite sexual, like a pressure on yr spot area, I’m trying to not have sex for a few weeks see if that makes a difference gives something a chance to mend??? Just another theory!

I found that a cup of tea makes it no worse (ie caffiene), I tried drinking barely any fluids for a time made it no worse or better was just more painful when I did pee cause it was concentrated urine. So found at least drinking a normal amount keeps the flow going when u need to without too much pain. Stopped drinking cranberry and fizzy drinks, don’t think that has made a difference but I didn’t drink much of that stuff b4.

At night I take a low dose xanax if I need to and the pain ebbs away but the need to go is there but not as bad cause I’m relaxed from the Xanax obviously.
Also find that if I sit on a heat bag or press it against my vagina area it feels a more comfy for a bit.

I have an appoint with an gyno/uro specialist in 4 wks (earliest I cld get). Till then just trying to stay sane. Continued next post…

Part 2.

Now some others things that may or may not be of interest or in common with others. I have very low vitamin d levels, mother has a thyroid cond (I have been checked but will again next doc visit) I have a frozen shoulder from a trauma 5 months ago, so altho it’s bare able now it was cronic pain for the first 3 mths. Was in Mobic anti-inflam for 10 weeks at the start. Doing physio and just started pilates twice a week. I am43 and sexually active (usually) with long term partner (male).

Now the next thing is a theory, I have been squirting with my partner for the past 2 years. At one point a lot then on a regular basis, just b4 these symptoms I did this and put quite a lot of effort into it, anyone who has done this knows that u can push out quite hard if yr in the zone. The theory is that cld u sprain or damage the area in some way by straining too hard. (for those who don’t it’s like pushing you kegel muscle outward instead of inwards like the exercises)

I mentioned this to my GP and he was confused first of all he had no idea that it was possible and thought it was just a the ‘mythical female ejaculation’. I explained a few things to him told him o it’s true. Then he said that from a medical point of view it is possible.

So I’m back on a course of Mobic anti-inflam cause thought well that cld help a strained, inflamed or damage area. Only been 2doses so I’ll see how that goes.

My next rule out test will be for thyroid problems and IC.

I’m interested if anybodies symptoms are worse at night and if anyone else has any thoughts on the squirting thing. We need to try and find some common ground so all honesty is appreciated. Good luck to all u ladies we will find out what going on and get control again….stay strong!

Keep u posted!

It has bothered me in spells as far back as i can remember. i have always been able to orgasm and can differentiate between orgasm and this feeling. i noticed a few other women who experienced this suffer from hypothyroidism. i too was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 13 perhaps that may be a factor.

My daughter who is only 8 yrs old has had this problem pretty much all her life. We have seen Pediatrition, GYN, Physical Therapist and Accupuncturist so far. So far the verdict is a neurological problem that stems from the spine and effects the pelvic floor muscles. Our next step is to see a neurologist. Also a naturopath to see if we balancing the hormones and diet will help.

From the posting that I have read, it happens to women of all ages, sexually active and not, meopausal and premenses. It sounds like one of those rare neurological disorders that no one has done much research on.
I am a nurse and I am determined to find a treatment or cure to this problem. Will keep you all posted. So far, Phycial Therapist with specialization on pelvic floor muscles has been helping my daughter the most with manipulation of the spine.
But please see your doctor and be cleared of any other medical issues first. POssibilities are yeast infections, UTI, STD and other GYN problems

I was having a similar sensation – a painful tingling/sensitivity that throbs as well. Although it was strongest around my vagina and down a little into my legs (sitting on a cold toilet is awful!), I also sometimes had it in my legs and feet.

I googled IRON DEFICIENCY since i sometimes can’t donate blood because of low iron, and was so surprised to read that one symptom is painful throbbing/tingling. Then I remembered that I used to get that tingling feeling above my knees during my period, which makes sense since I’m sure your iron level goes down during your period.

I took a strong iron supplement for a couple weeks and then switched over to a multi vitamin. And I didnt feel the tingling again. That was a a few months ago. But it came back yesterday and is driving me nuts! I’m still taking a multi vitamin, haven’t eaten much differently, and am a couple weeks away from my period. So who knows. But I’m not going to abandon the vitamin thing because of this one time… But it did make me start looking online again.

I’m sorry to say but unfortunately there are some ignorant people out there, who fail to educate themselves on things such as Persistent Genitial Arousal Disorder. It is something new so that is why there is no cure or some doctors don’t even know about this disorder because very few women haven’t or just now came forward out this disorder. I am 20 years old and just 3 weeks ago notice this tingling sensation in my clitoritis. i first thought that i had a bladder infection so i took some antibiotics. Of course that did not work and so the doctor prescribe what would help a Urinary tract infected. Again same results, i even tried this over the counter medication that turns urine orange, but of course it didn’t do much because i had never had a bladder infection. i had an STD test done and of course all negative. When i looked at my records my urine test were all negative yet they were treating for bladder infections. So i did my research and found out that this Disorder is more accurate and matches what i have the tingling unbearing sensation and no matter how many orgasms, it is still there. For all the people who think your just horny no your not because there are women who have lived with this for ten years, you do not have to think about sex or have this yearn for sex, if anything you don’t want it and guys imagine having an erection for weeks or months and you still have to go to work and drive go to school and still have the embarassment of having this desire that isn’t trigger by sexual thoughts at all and no matter how many people you sleep with or you orgasm it, the erections comes back like you never did, sorry i hate ignorant people who don’t know what they are talking about because even doctors don’t know but yes ladies its Persistent Genitial Arousal Disorder Not Horny….

OMG Ladies, look, if we take out ALL the other symptoms and just agree on the “tingling my cell phone on vibrate on my vaginal lip experience” what have we got? Since the medical world doesnt have a clue lets figure this out! Make a list of all your symptoms and lets research it together we can than delete symptoms that we are ALL NOT experiencing and have a solid list to work from. some of you are young, older, pre menstrual, post, pregnant, horny, and not, thyroid issues, bladder issues etc etc. Is there a way we can share each others email addys and create a list so that we can find an answer? I am SOOOO sick of this! And guess what? I am not even horny over it just ANNOYED! I would be happy to create a list of symptomalogy that we are all experiencing just need to know how to get in touch with you all. i can be found on FB Deanna Greenwood, but please send me a private message! this is not something we need to share with the world. I am putting myself out there so that you will all see i am not some strange person i just want us all to get some relief and in this world we need to take our health into our own hands sometimes, seems docs want us to be tested for everything under the sun so it costs us a zillion bucks. Lets figure it out ourselves, what do you say?

Mine feels like a great uncontrollable desire to have an orgasm, accompanied by a great feeling of anxiety, the desire doesn稚 come out of the sexual thoughts, it comes by itself while I will be busy doing everyday tasks, it is a really bad sensation and comes almost in one days time that could be relieved only by an orgasm. The orgasm is quite difficult to reach as it is not driven from a sexual desire; to reach an orgasm sometimes takes two hours… Last month I went to the major amount of doctors, they prescribed me antidepressant Ciprolex, the irritating feeling in vagina didn稚 go away, now I am suffering even more, as I can稚 reach an orgasm, think that this antidepressant have blocked some neurological centers in my head, for a month it痴 a torture as I am feeling this nagging feeling in vagina 24 hours, makes it almost impossible to sleep…
I致e also started taking oral contraceptive yaz by Bayer Schering Pharma, the sensation in vagina have diminished a little, this is the first remedy that have ever helped me!!! Mbe it will help to some other people, it normalizes the work of hormones.
No doctor have yet heard of this issue that I am facing, and it is also very awkward to describe this sensations while going to different doctors psychologists, neurologists, gynecologists etc… What I am thinking is that, it can be a genitoalgia hysterica, that is cured through hypnoses. Went to a sexologist, he offered me to go to hypno sessionI think I will try that, for the time being is one of my last hopes… I致e read allot on Persistant Sexual Arosal Sindrome, hope I will manage to cure my case with hypnoses, cause then I really have no clue what to do else… There is only one medical center in the world that studies and cures Persistant Sexual Arosal Sindrome it is located in HolandI am quite unique in this meter so far!!! I want to get rid of this disorder as it interferes with my normal living

(394) A Guy says:

You ladies are describing what we men go thru all the time our penises throb, twitch pulsate even at times when we are not erect I have always attributed the feeling to my body wanting sex or a release a few have stated sex seems to make it better !!! I can make my wife’s clit throb just by touching her on either side and gently pinching her vulva her clit will throb and can last up to 25 seconds or more and remember your clit is longer then you think look it up so the throbing you are feeling in the sides of your vulva could still be your clit- google it you will find your clit is quite long!!!!! When you sit you may be putting pressure on a sensitive area.Im 46 and so is my wife,Believe me I have been sexually active since 18 but only up to the last year did I know a womans clit is much more active then just swelling it well kinda of jerks or throbs hard when stimulated a certain way.For instance once your clit is hard if you were to gently move a finger /tongue up the area from opening to the base of the clit the clit will jump or jerk it is the coolest- this will not make my wife have an orgasm but will lead to one also during orgasm this twitching can occur. The clit seems to have a lot in common with our penis ! so I think MOST of you are having normal cravings. If you have sex at a certain time you can expect your body to crave it at that time you have clock within your body I can wake and know the time usually within a few minutes so give your body credit or if there has been a length of time in between intercourse your body would have a craving –thats kinda like I have not had shrimp for so long next thing you know your mouth starts to salivate its a craving and needs to be looked at in a positive way .There is nothing wrong with you.

I’ve read many of the posts and I don’t have an answer but I do have similar symptoms. I am 65 yrs old, haven’t had sexual relations in 15 yrs. Had a hysterectomy 20 yrs ago. No STDs, no med problems, recent appointment with gyno, no problems. Yesterday while urinating I felt spasms, a feeling I haven’t felt in years, “like my insides were falling out” and some feeling of sexual arousement which I also haven’t felt in yrs. It also caused chills up my back and all through my body. All day today I have urinated more frequently than normal with the same feelings everytime I sit on the toilet, it has now started as I am sitting here writing. Just to let you young ladies know, don’t consider it sexual, it is probably a bladder infection or one of the desease posted here. good luck

(409) Blue says:

Wow. So glad I found this. I’m an educated, experienced woman and have been dealing with this for years, and thought it was just a combination of UTIs, stress, and that maybe I was a succubus or something lol. Since I have Degenerative Disc Disorder, and have had lots of nerve and bladder problems, and my mother has hyperthyroid – it seems like all of this is connected. I used to just think that those nights where I couldn’t stop that feeling was just…a bad night. But like the ones who really deal with this know – sex and masturbating doesn’t help it, not really. Actually, I’m a squirter, that was something a previous post mentioned and I totally understand the ‘maybe strained to hard’ thing. For you guys who are young and virgins, don’t freak out – I’m a very experienced, 33-year-old mother of two, and I know the difference between horny and “something’s wrong.” I’ve written down all the symptoms that I share with you guys, and I’m going to see my doctor soon and ask about IC/PBS. This is one of the few times that the feeling has carried on for more than a night (going on like 3 days now) and yes – it makes being around your family, strangers, ANYONE very stressful and uncomfortable. I’m going to look more into PGAD as well – I’m very thankful I found this site though! Just like everyone else, I thought I was the only one. Even down to the “feels like you have to push out against your chair” thing…wow. I’d like to say I’m going to come back and let you guys know…but I see that not many of us do! Maybe they take women like us away and throw us in some guys dungeon lol.

At 3:59 I woke up from a bad dream and I had to pee and all a sudden I felt this pessure on my clit while I was peeing. I got done and layed in my bed. And I had the urge of hornyness and felt like I had a mini orgasim but I had this feeling to pee!! I went to go pee but I didn’t have to.. it was like a drizzle r a very small about of pee. I went back in the bed and I felt that pulsing on the left side of my vaginal wall. It felt weird but good in a way. But then it just got annoying!!! I had the ugre to pee again but I didn’t do to the bathroom to pee.. I just layed in my bed and said “deal with it!” The pusling stoped and I feel more normal… But I am still horny! Idk. Maybe my boyfriend will help that one. But I well now have a small pain in my now. I am only 16..

I just started having this throbbing feeling last night. I masturbated a couple of times but it didn’t go away. I also began to feel a dull ache in my lower left abdomen. I got off the Pill 2 months ago (was on it for 9 years) and my husband and I are using a diaphragm now. I don’t have thyroid issues as far as I know. There are hundreds of causes for any set of symptoms, you may be needing to have a deeper orgasm like from the g spot or deeper, or you may have some other kind of trouble. If it is related to ovulation it is probabley a need for deeper orgasms. (433) karen says:

I have the same issues of throbbing, swelling and discharge although
yeast infections are ruled out after almost 1 1/2 years!
What I’ve investigated:
1. Candida (sugar, yeast and carbs cause an overgrowth in the body and
cause inflammation in general). So I’ve cut all out including fruit which turns
to sugar. Some improvement.

2. Fragrance and detergent irritate the skin. So I have tried to clear
myself. No skin care or body cream with fragrance, and just switched
to Seventh Generation. I washed my mattress cover, sheets, towels,
underwear, all clothing.

3. Just had an ELISA/ACT delayed allergy test and it showed I was
allergic to numerous things (not 100% sold on the results), but it
shows sulfite, some chemicals, food colors, and Rosemary)
Rosemary is in every skin body, face, lip balm, organic hairspray
product I use. AND, just googled it to learn that it causes the uterus
to be stimulated! It’s not recommended for pregnant women to use!!!! This

blew me away – scary shocking! And I cook with it often.

It’s only been a few days that I researched that in rosemary, but I
feel that rosemary, detergent, fragrance, etc… all participate in
causing skin irritations which can very well be one if the main
issues for many of us.

Hopefully it helps me and others.

Hi everyone. I found this string months ago when I was experiencing the same problems: tingling/persistent feeling in clitoris (similar to a feeling of being “turned on”), some occasional throbbing (not painful) in the labia, increased urination frequency, and a bladder infection that seemed to have kicked the whole thing off (although it may just have been a coincidence). Firstly, let me thank you all for posting about your symptoms–just hearing that other women were having them made me feel a ton better (although I’m so sorry you are all going through this!)

I did a bunch of research into many different things after I read this forum (and others): persistent genital arousal disorder, pelvic floor dysfunction, nerve damage, interstitial cysitis, vulvodynia, and herpes. I visted my OB/GYN and she pretty much ruled out all of the things I mentioned. She recommended I talk to a “sex specialist” but I felt like that would be my last ditch effort if I couldn’t find something medically wrong. I talked to a friend who works at a hospital, and she recommended I contact a specialist–and I found one in my area called a “urogynecologist.” Upon our first consultation, she wasn’t sure could help me, given my symptoms. But after her initial examination, when I had explained to her that annual exams have always been painful to me, and after I had bucked on the examining table due to the high level or discomfort, she said “I know what it is…it’s levator myalgia.” She pushed on some muscles in my pelvis and said, “does this hurt?” And YES, it did!

Levator myalgia is apparently a muscle that runs along your pelvic floor. If that muscle (and other muscles in the pelvic floor) are very tight, they can cause all sorts of problems (mine was in fact charlie-horsing when I had my exam). In my case, the problems were: frequent need to urinate (they were very surprised I wasn’t already leaking urine because the muscles were constantly clenched and over time if your muscles stay clenched consistently, they lose the ability to hold in urine), and this very VERY distracting and anxiety-producing tingling/persistence in the clitoris (the tight muscles further up my pelvic floor–almost toward my hip–were basically restricting blood flow and causing that sensation all the way down in the clitoris). This overall condition is referred to as “pelvic floor dysfunction” and while I didn’t intially think I had that based on my personal research, and while my OB/GYN didn’t give it much consideration–we were wrong! After the urogynecologist diagnosed me, she referred me to a physical therapist who works only on these types of issues…literally physical therapy for the vagina and pelvic floor.

I’m about 5 months into treatment now, and I still see my PT about once a month (was going twice a week at first). Great news–almost all of my symptoms are gone. Between the PT and the excercises I had to do at home, my pelvic floor is in MUCH better shape. I no longer have that urge to urinate, the throbbing happens much less often, and the tingling/persistent arousal is much MUCH less—and even if it’s bothering me, I now have the tools to work the muscles that are causing the problem and/or meet with my PT–and the symptoms lessen again. The PT consists of some massage on the outside and the inside of the pelvic floor, trigger point therapy, some relaxing and unclenching techniques, and then exercises at home with “dilators” which help to make the pelvic floor muscles more pliable again.

I wanted to share this with you all because I was EXTREMELY anxious about my symptoms at the onset. I couldn’t concentrate at work and would stay up at night because the tingling was so distracting. Sort of like restless legs of the clitoris. I was so worried I would never have a normal sex life again (wrong!) and completely freaked that I would be like this “for the rest of my life.” While pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms can come and go (since some women just tend to hold stress there), I know how to manage it on my own now–and of course I have the PT for bad flare ups. And guess what else? It’s not as uncommon as you think. After I was diagnosed, I mentioned it to a friend, and HER friend had the exact same issue a few years before!

My advice to you women with these symptoms–go to your doctor. If you don’t like what he/she says, see another doctor. YOU know your body better than anyone else. If I had stopped with my first doctor’s assessment, I would still be where I was 5 months ago. Sometimes the symptoms for things aren’t exactly what you read in the text book, but if you work with specialists and really explain everything–don’t hold back–you will end up in a much better place. If you do end up in PT, make sure you do your exercises at home. I hope you all the get the help you need and feel better very soon.

Best of luck to you all, be strong!

What I’m experiencing does not sound like what the majority of you are going through. I started an office job a month ago and for the past two – three weeks I’ve felt an electrical pulsing in my overall vaginal area and it is becoming stronger and more annoying, similar to sitting on a small electrical motor. I am wondering if it is from th pc hard drive under the desk which is in line with my legs and lower body. It provides the internet, much like a mobile phone I suppose. I am concerned that this is some sort of radiation and may result in cancer. I have felt it before when I have used my laptop in bed resting on my knees, for days later I felt this electrical tingling in my inner pelvic area so I never did it again. I would like to know if my problem is the hard drive as I need to inform my boss (who is male) and not look like a whinging woman. It is an extremely annoying feeling and I sit at the desk for approx 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. I’m beginning to feel queasy (light-headed & nauseas) as well. Thanks

It’s a shame I found this thread so late, but here’s your answer. There are two possible reasons:

1) People suffering from Hypothyroidism often have “strange” nerve twitches. The most common are in the chest and eye muscles, but vaginal twitches are somewhat common as well. Make sure you are current on your thyroid medication. Also, take B-vitamins, specifically B-6.

2) Stimulation to the cervix can cause vaginal and uterine twitching. Stimulation can occur from a poking or scraping from a tampon, a sexual partner, or especially a Pap smear.

This is of course for the earlier posts about twitching, not for the persistent arousal disorder or UTI sufferers. Just for painless twitching.

I’m 28 yrs old and have been having this tingling for months now. Constantly feeling like I’m having a mini orgasm. At first I was really concerned but when real orgasms became so intense I loved it!!! I cant stop wondering if this is what men and teenage boys go through. Since it doesn’t seem to be going away, I’ve decided to embrace it. Some woman never reach orgasm or hit a sexual prime. I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts!!! Who knows, maybe there’s nothing wrong with most of us, but our perception/contentment. I hope you ladies find peace.

Love Alicia

Soo glad I found this!!! I have a constant feeling of arousal, some discharge, not really painful but uncomfortable cramping mixed with aniety that comes and goes all day. It is soo annoying. I have PCOS and recently switched to a low carb diet. I also recently stopped birth control. I am hoping it is all hormonal and it will go away once my hormones level out. I too have thought I had cancer or a weird disease becasue the pain/ weird feeling seems to come from inside somewhere. I noticed it happens right after my period but during my period, i am fine. So glad to know I am not alone!!

I have been driven to the point of losing the plot by the very symptoms you’ve described. I’ve read all the comments, and yours by far make the most sense. Ta. I’ve had these sensations for about 8 months and the ‘sexual urges’ bothered me SO much because despite having a great sexual relatonship with my husband, orgasms didn’t relieve the symptoms. And I have damn good ones!
I don’t have problems with thyroid, I don’t have Diabetes or heart disease or blood pressure problems. I am post menopausal. What I do have is a huge degree of stress as my husband has been laid off work for the 4th time in 5 years. I live in America as an American Resident and my kids, my family are way back home 14,000 miles away where I can’t afford to go and see them.
I don’t have medical insurance, along with 25 million Americans, which is staggeringly gobsmacking. I can’t see a Physical Therapist nor a doctor for that mattter. I simply can’t afford it.
I’d venture a guess that intense stress might play a factor!
My question is, why does it manifest itself in the one area that should be considered a pleasure for the unemployed?
Where it doesn’t cost you anything but making love to someone you love? But these symptoms just add to the worry of why.
I have 2 kids born by Caesarian section. I couldn’t be tighter down there than a fish’s arse! I have trouble seeing a co-relation to the treatment of symptoms related by women on this site. It’s really puzzling.
I appreciate your input though, thank you.
Your comment about it being like ‘restless legs of the clitoris’ made me laugh! For me it’s more like The Las Vegas Vaginal Showtime!!! And I live in Minnesota…
So I should be frigid…
Nah uhh.

I appreciate your input but I don’t think it’s quite the same problem. And I did access the site you referred to. We group of women have this unexplained stimulation of our sexual organs that makes absolutely no bloody sense! It isn’t pain. It’s just weird beyond strange.
I want an answer to this. I want to know what to do to stop it. I love being turned on but this is like having the On button turned on permanently. It colours my day with stress and problems and quite frankly things I don’t need to be worried about, along with all the rest. I said to my husband, how would he like a 24 hour erection? I think he said Been there, done that.
Try it for 6 months!I don’t think they’ve brought out a range of men’s clothing in the pants area to accommodate that.
I just want it to stop. It makes me cry because I have no control over it. And quite frankly, it’s cruel.
We females get a raw deal as it is.
And as if sex isn’t hard enough to deal with anyway. I have this??!

I have been experiencing the same sensations……Pulsating on the inside of my vagina, throbbing labia’s, wet, vulva swelling, some tingling and would last minutes and/or an hour on and off…. It usually happens about a week before my period, on my period, and about 4 days after my period!! I agree that this is not a disorder or UTI, STD, or any other issue!
Just, simply the fact that we are women and have higher amounts of hormones at different times each day, month, week or year……I also agree with a few women above that we as females are just very Horny……See what Hormones and Horny have in common….. “Hor” Just Kidding!
I never noticed it when i was younger because I didn’t really know my body..But I am 43yrs and love the fact that I am still as horny as I was when I was 16………and the best part about it is that I know my body even better at my age!
Some of you will enjoy and some won’t! So, Enjoy your Vagina while it still works……lol lol and those of you young women need to urinate before and after intercourse to prevent Bladder infections, UTI’s, or yeast infections, which are usually caused by condoms, rubber sexual toys ect….
good luck,

As I began to do floor exercises I became horny and felt the throbbing sensation like I was about to cum. Since then, i feel it at random times throughout the day. I feel like everything is turning me on. By the way, im only 17 and still a virgin.

Dude… I so have this same thing. I’m 18, I’ve had sex with, and without a condom. But I have not had a pelvic exam, my doctor said I shouldn’t need one just yet. I have this same feeling when I get UTI’s (I’ve had 2 within the last 7 months) but I feel like it’s more than that. It’s a throbbing feeling.. I do know it gets worse after sex, like a few days later… It doesn’t hurt or anything… its just super annoying! I would say to possibly treat it like a UTI and see if the symptoms go away! :D

I’m having this exact same feeling now. It woke me up and I haven’t been able to sleep since. I’m 21, had protected sex about a week ago and it feels like a orgasm building constantly with the need to pee every once in a while.

I’m positive it’s not a UTI, I’ve had those before and it didn’t feel like this. Not sure if i’ve just stretched or torn something down there and it’s just irritation, but all I want to do is masturbate to relieve myself and it’s killing me.

I’m meant to be seeing my boyfriend tomorrow for round 2 this week before we both go away for a few months. I don’t want to see him if it’s still like this. Anyone have any advice?

so glad i found this page cuz i really thought i was the only one and i felt misunderstood. Now i kind of have an idea of what we all have. In my case its just like a horny sensation in my vagina that doest go away. I can have sex or masturbate and it is still there, sex and masturbation makes it a little better tho but it doest get rid of it. It is also hard for me to have orgasms so to reach a pleasant sensation while i masturbate takes me sometimes hours, i cant orgasm from sex :( I often have to close my legs tight n feel the pressure in my vagina to calm down a little, I have also noticed i can feel it in different positions, all day but i think it intensifies more when i sit down, specially on a moving car. Its hard for me to sleep too because of that n i often have to masturbate during the night to calm down a little, i also keep on moving a lot when i am trying to sleep and i feel a tingling sensation on my feet. the only medicine i take is zoloft for depression. some people have said it stops women from having orgasms, i wonder if it has anything to do with what i feel.
