Women's Health Forums:
Looking to talk with anyone who is currently on a clomid regimen. I conceived my first child after one cyle of Clomid. I had been trying for two years prior to that. I now have been trying for almost one year to conceive my second child. I start my clomid the end of August. Anybody out there have any success stories or are currently on a clomid regimen or about to begin?

I will start taking clomid anytime now but Im not sure if when to have sex after do you have any advice? samzprecious1@yahoo.com I would really appreciate it
I have been on Clomid for two cycles now. I am taking 100mg, begining day one through day five. I have blood drawn on day three, an ultrasound on day three and then a second blood draw on day 21. Blood draws are monitoring Progesterone. Last month no sucess, severe pain with ovulation, hot flashes, moodiness and I wake up a lot during the night. This month I ovulated and now am two days late in receiving my period, but home pregnancy tests come back negative. As far as having sex, we were told to abstain on day 10/11 (depending on your lutel phase), use fertility strips days 11-15. Use the strips twice daily: for example 8am and 8pm to keep an accurate time frame as to when you surged. Then have sex twice within 24 hrs of your surge. This is what we have been told. No sucess last month. I guess we will see for this month. Don’t be afraid to ask your Dr/Specialist any questions. They have heard them all:) Good luck and God Bless.

I just took my first cycle of clomid. No serious side effects except my cervical fluid was constantly sticky/hostile. Although I ovulated it makes no sense for me to continue taking clomid if it’s going to make a hostile environment for the sperm. i would be very surprised if I am pregnant. Please read Fertility Awareness book…I am 36 and I just read it and learned so much about my body.
Good luck!
Hi there, I was put on Clomid due to having PCOS and Endo. This was the cause for me not falling pregnant, I was told to take Clomid ( 1 x 50mg tablet each ) on day 5,6,7,8, & 9. Have intercourse on day 10, 12, 14 & 16, than a blood test on day 21 to check if I had ovulated. One the first month I did ovulate but did no fall pregnant, we repeated the above on the following month and did fall pregnant, We now have a 3 year old beautiful boy. We have been trying to concieve naturally for the last 12 months but it just didnt happen, I have now just started Clomid again as per my previous use and hopefully it will work, Just keep in mind the when you get your ovulation results dont get to excited if its a high reading, my first month was really high and I didnt fall in, my second month wasnt very high and they said not to get my hopes up… and that was the month that we conceived. I did know when I was ovulating as I felt slight period like pains on the side that I was releasing my eggs, no real mood swings or bad side effects.Good luck and I hope that you are blessed with a little bundle of joy
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost three years now…I have had every infertility test under the sun ran with no answer as to why I haven’t fallen pregnant. I recently switched doctors and they have me on my first cycle of Clomid. I had blood drawn on day3 then started clomid on 5-9 then had intercourse day 10-21 on day 21 they took blood again… today is day 22 and I am still waiting to hear back. I took a few ovulation tests because I was experiencing awful right abo pain…they all came back negative. So I don’t know yet if I did infact ovulate this cycle. I am anxious to get checked out for endometreosis as it runs in my family and I have all of the symptoms…my new doc isn’t interested in doing a laproscopy she just wants me to concieve. I am still experiencing really strong pains in my abo…they want to do an unltra sound to see if they’ve hyperstimulated my ovaries. But I’m thinking it’s just a bladder infection because I’ve had them before! I will pray for all of you to get pregnant! Please say a little prayer for me! As I AM desperate to start a family with the love of my life!!!

I am starting my first cycle of chlomid tonight. I am a little nervous but am excited. I have been trying to conceive for about three years now and we just don’t have luck. Are you suppose to have sex while taking it or not until after? Please help. scarbo06@yahoo.com..
I am getting ready to start my first cycle of clomid this weekend and am looking for any advice on what is suppossed to happen or when to have sex… My husband and I have been trying to concieve for nearly a year on our own but have had no success… I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago and do not have a menstraul cycle at all unless I am on birth control… My doctor told me to start taking the clomid at any time since I don’t have a cycle and then to take it on days 5-9 of my cycle in the coming months… but she didn’t make it clear as to when to start having sex or how often to do so… If anyone has any advice please feel free to contact me…. aka_babygirl_82@yahoo.com
Thanks

hi everyone,
My name is chance and i’m 25 years old. I have been trying to concieve a child for almost 2 yrs now.My PCP sent me to a fertilty specialist. The Dr. had me take some test with all came back good. the only problem was since i didn’t get my period regularly she said i have what are called anovulatory periods which means i don’t ovulate. she started me on clomid (50mg. my period started on june 20th-27th. My Dr. has also concieved using these same pills. I started clomid on the 25th-29th. From the 30th to july 2nd she said to do nothing. she told me to have sex every other day starting on the 3rd of july ending on the 13th.. on the 14th i had to go and have blood drawn. i went to see my doctor on the 23rd and to my disappointment there was no ovulation so i’m not pregnant. she up my dosage to 100mg to take the same way when my menstual started. i was afraid that it would be another couple of months since my period is irregular coming every 4-5mths, so she gave me provera to take 1 tab a day for ten days if my period didn’t come by the following week. to my surprise my period showed up on its own on july 27th.. i’m eager to see where these pills will lead me. she said 3rd times usually the charm sometimes the second. i hope that’s the case because i really want a child and i can’t afford other exsensive treatment such as IVF which i read can cost anywhere between $10,000-$12,000.
Sometimes I feel really dumb talking on these things but most of the time I just really have no one else to talk to. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost a year now. We were lucky last October and conceived naturally and then the end of January this year I had my second miscarriage (the first was two years ago September). They said the fetus died at about 8 weeks so if you do the math I carried the baby for almost another month after it had died. I was very depressed and very angry because after the miscarraige my doctor said he would look into it which just meant he would biopsy the fetus to see if there was something wrong with it. So naturally I switched to a different doctor, who since April, has diognosed me with homozygous mthfr defciency and pcos. The amount of pills she has me taking every day has reached an alltime peak and although most are vitamins and other hormones my body should produce it kind of freaks me out. I will begin taking clomid the next cycle along with steroids, progesterone, and some other kind of hormone, all that need to be taken at different times of the month, still on top of everything else i am taking. We have a daughter who is 6, we had her when we were both very young and the only complications were with her parents being young and stupid. Now that we are adults and are ready to have a child again it seems like my body has just said no. I know clomid can work a friend of mine just conceived using it, but there is only a six month time table in which you are allowed to use it. How do you keep up hope?
I start taking my 6th cycle of clomid tomorrow. I started at 100 for 3 months and now 150 for 3 months. Some months it has worked good and some months it has hardly worked at all. I used to stress alot about trying so hard to get pregnant, I’ve had one miscarriage 2 years ago. We havn’t been able to get pregnant since. Don’t give up on it though, I almost called it quits last month. My sister conceived on cycle 3 of 100mg. And she’s due at the end of November. So when God decides it’s time, he will bless everyone!
I have been on Metformin for almost a month. I went in for a ultrasound yesterday and am now going on provera to start my period, then clomid on days 3-7, while continuing the metformin. I have been ttc for 7 months now, and have PCOS so I never have regular cycles. Any experience with clomid would be greatful, feel free to email me at lilmac4gs@yahoo.com
hi, i started my first round of clomid between 6-10 of august. i did my charting on “fertilityfriend.com and it looks like i ovulated on my first round, but my husband and i were unable to have sex around that time due to a funeral. i want to know, do i have to continue taking clomid every month to ovulate?
The clomid can be taken on days 3-7 or 5-9. Both are recommended. Go by what your doc said. As far as the sex thing, I was told the last pill or last day skip sex. Then the very next day start having sex every other day. Example if you do 5-9 you would start on day 10,12,14,16,18. Or if you do 3-7 you would go day 8,10,12,14,16.
Hi Girls,
I’ve just been told by my Gyne that i can start clomid. only 2 months ago i was told my only option was IVF after 5 years on depo and hubby with low sperm count but i refused to not be treated first.
Got my hubby on herbal supplements to improve things and on a healthy diet and it worked – my GP will be monitoring me on clomid. appointment booked for 10th to get prescription. No idea what dosage i’ll be given but fingers crossed it works!
If you want to stay in touch my msn is anna_crook55@hotmail.com and email is annaflight@hotmail.co.uk
Good luck girls.

I am about to start my first cycle of Clomid in the next few days. I have a little boy who is about to turn 5 next month that we conceived naturally after 8 months of trying. My husband and I have been through tests and everything has come back just fine. I have a fertility monitor that is showing I’m ovulating ok every month but since we have tried for over two years now to become pregnant again my doctor said they are going to treat me with Clomid anyway. Has anyone out there had test come back normal and had success with the Clomid. Good luck to you all and God Bless!!!!
Hi, girls!
I’m 24 years old and my husband and I have been TTC for about a year and a half… we would go to doctors and couldn’t find anything wrong w/me, and my husband had a sperm count and everything was fine. A couple of months ago, our doctor referred us to a specialist and now I’m about to start clomid (50mg/5days) in a couple of days! I’ve heard that it takes from 4-6 months for it to work… is there a chance that it takes less than 4 months? For those who have taken it, does it really work, it’s just that I’m worried that it won’t work and I don’t want to get my hopes up. It’s been really frustruating, and I’ve been praying so much for this baby! I just hope that clomid works for me :> thanks, and God bless you all, I will keep you all in my prayers, so God can bless you w/beautiful healthy babies :>
I never had unprotected sex for 6 years never got pregnant, i started seeing a Fertility dr and he put me on 100mg clomid and we did iui last month, well it was unsuccessful and I am now on my 2nd clomid cycle…waiting for ovulation and will see what happen, the second month I got really bad hot flashes especially in the night…I am praying that this works I am so depressed everyone around me is pregnant by mistake..
I am on my first cycle of Clomid and had my scan on day 13. I was told I had 5 maturing eggs on my right and 1 plus a cyst on the other. I was told not to have unprotected sex as I may have 5 or 6 babies on the way. I am so disappointed as I am so impatient. I did have unprotected sex however on day 10 and 12, so you never know. Good luck to everyone x
Hello – I have had 2 rounds of Clomid that didn’t work. Then had to have 2 surgeries for Stage 4 + endometriosis. I am starting a new round of Clomid, 150 mg on day 5 which is trmw. What blood test has been referred to in some of the blogs? We plan to have the IUI after the HCG shot – does anyone have any other suggestions? Any advice would be helpful.
Well I am on my 3rd cycle of clomid and just did 10 days of progesterone. I go back on October 10th for my 21 day progesterone check. This will be the last month we can try for 6 months at least if not longer because hubby is deploying. Luckily we have 2 little boys ages 10 and 7 and I conceived the 7 year old with clomid on first try so gets frustrating. We were hoping for one more child, maybe a girl, but I don’t care as long as healthy. I just turned 36 yesterday and that was our goal to be pregnant by. Well good luck all and will keep all posted.
i have been ttc for a year Dr. informed me that i have PSO and an introverted womb. i have taken two cycles of clomid. with the second one the Dr. did a TVS and there was an ovary ready for ovulation gave me dates of 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. i felt pain in the left side of my lower abdomen and went to see my Dr. he said it was ovulation so i i had sex and it was very painful i am waiting to see. my hubby wants a child badly i have one already so it make the situation awkward. Alot of people have had good results with Clomid i pray i do too
Hi Everyone,
I suffered a miscarriage last year. I conceived on my first cycle of clomid. After a year my spouse and I are ready to try again. I have started my cycle of clomid and it’s one day after my last pill. I’ve already started having sex every other day because I just don’t want to miss ovulation. Pray for me as I will pray that all of you will have boundles of joy!!
I am currently on my first cycle with clomid. My Dr. has had many of her patients conceive with this medication so I’m hopeful it will work for me as well. My directions were to take the clomid on day 5-9 of your cycle and have intercourse every other day from day 5 for 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. So far I haven’t really experienced any unusual symptoms. I did however experience a little blood the day after starting the clomid along with extreme tenderness in my lower abdomen. I can only assume it is normal due to the ovulation brought on by the meds. I go for my blood test in just a lil’ over 2 weeks. I’m nervous, scared, and excited – - and i’m hoping and praying to God for a blessing!!!! Best of luck to you guys!!!
I have two beautiful children from my previous marriage…after my second I got my tubes tied. I remarried and he didn’t have any of his own kids…so we saved and had my tubes reversed. He has been tested and he is fine we have not been able to concieve. I am now taking clomid. I took my first cycle on the 18th of December and now I haven’t started my period. But HCG test was negative. So what do I need to do anyone have an opinion.
Hi to everyone. I have had PCOS since I was 20. I am now 32 and ttc for the first time. My Md ran numerous blood tests to check all my hormone levels first. He put me on yaz for 4 months to shrink my ovaries down from the cysts. I am now off of the yaz and I am taking progesterone cream once a day for 2 weeks then 2 times a day until my cycle. Next month after my cycle starts I start with the progesterone once a day for 14 days and on days 5-9(which day five is considered the 5th day after the first day of my period)I start the yaz from day 5-9. My doctor told me to get a calendar and write at the bottom the time of my cycle how much progeserone to take the days on clomid and then use the ovulation prodictor kits starting day 12 after my cycle. Continue to use with the mornings first urine until you ovulate. THen he said have sex that day and the next and the rest is just fun. I hope this makes sense. The calendar i printed a blank one from microsoft word and i am keeping track on that otherwise I would be really confused. I wish everyone luck on there baby journey!
In 2006-2007 I took Clomid and had several inseminations. After many tries and lots of let down I finally got pregnant at the end of August. I bled almost the whole time and sadly I miscarried in November right before Thanksgiving. This year, I tried a new doctor (not an infertility doctor, but an OB/GYN). My menstrual cycle was messed up. My doctor put me on Metphormin (for blood sugar) I am not a diabetic but she said it was slightly high and this should regulate my cycle. So I did as she said, as soon as I got my period (which was the next month) I did one cycle of Clomid. My husband and I had intercourse every other day for almost a month (no ovulation checkers or anything). Then i was pregnant!! One try!! It was pregnant!! I am 10wks, hopefully history won’t repeat itself!!
Hi, my name is Jamie. I have two great children, both boys. They are three and five. We conceived naturally with my first and with my second we strugled a little but after 1year we were pregnant. My doctor had just gave me a script for clomid and I found out the day I went to pick it up that I was pregnant. In trying to concieve our third and final child, I was diagnosed with PCOS. We despertly want another child. I guess everyone has this dream of how many kids they want and how far apart they want thim. My dream has been shadered. Many tell me that I should just be glad I was able to have my two and not push for more. It hurts when people say that. I love my children and want more. Next week I am going to my doctor to discuss starting clomid after trying to concieve for 1 year. I am confused, am I asking for to much by wanting another baby after I have two that are healthy and beutiful? Should I take clomid? Email me and give me your thoughts! martin07@iland.net
I started taking clomid this month, the 50mg cycle, to me it felt like right before any period I’ve ever had. A little bloatedness, nipples tender, and mucus a little drier. Other than that I haven’t had any problems, and your doctor will tell you what you should do based on your specific situation. I took it on the 5th day of my period, 3 days after the last pill I was told to have sex every other day. The missionary position is the best, and putting your rear-end in the air, but have you gotten your partner tested? My husband was tested and his sperm are all morphed (disfigured). He has over the amount needed, but they aren’t pure*. Also, I’ve had an HSG, it doesn’t really hurt, its uncomfortable like any pelvic exam. It’s really cool, to see your insides, lol, but a little gross as is any GYN visit. Good Luck!
Hi Ladies,
I started taking clomid in 2006, I wanted to have a baby and I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was 31 and fell pregnant on 100mgs, second cycle. I ovulated well both cycles and I now have a beautiful 2 y.o baby boy.
I am now taking clomid again, hoping to fall pregnant with a second child. This time I didn’t ovulate on the first cycle taking 100mgs. My Ob/Gybo increased my dose to 150mgs, and I ovulated the second month but didn’t conceive. I am now in the middle of my third cycle – I have suffered many side effects, one of which was some ’spotting’ whilst taking the clomid. I am concerned that taking such a high dose will cause additional complications. I read somewhere that high dose of clomid 150mg’s or more can cause you to produce less mucus and can make the lining of your uterus thinner – both can make successful conception more difficuilt. Does anyone know anything about this……good luck everyone
Hi Girls – I am actually on my 6th cycle of Provera 10mg and I was also prescribed clomid 100mg and the funny thing is I’m sixteen days late I was normal for about 6 months until now because before I was on a 55 day cycle and then being on provera jumped me to 28day cycle interchanging with 32 day cycle when I would stress out. I finally broke down and used OPK in February and found out I ovulated on Valentine’s Day but now am waiting I took the first pg test 3 days before my period and it came out negative now I’m afraid if I take it again it’ll turn out a BFN as well. I’ve narrowed it down though with Provera my period will start on an average 18 days from the first pill that I take. DH and I have been trying for four years now I am going insane if you have any advice or are in the same boat as well don’t hesitiate to email me. starbroomryder@yahoo.com
hi i have 21 month old twins after takeing clomid for two cycles. i am just away to start again but this time i have to take clomid and provera. so am hopeiing this will work again
Hi ladies I have just taken my first round of clomid. I go to the doctor on Saturday for a blood test, it’s day 22. I have a really good feeling about this. My husband and I having been trying for 2 years. Good luck to everyone!! I hope my husband will get a great surprise for his mid May birthday.
Hi. I have a success story to share. My son is a clomid baby. He is now 3 1/2. I was given clomid to take in 2005 because I don’t make progesterone and therefore, don’t ovulate. I’ve never had a regular period and in Feb of 2005 I randomly got my period and took clomid 50mg on days 5-9 of my cycle. I took preg test on day 28 and it was negative. I took another one on day 31 and it was positive!
My husband and I decided to try for another child. I’ve had my progesterone tested again and I’m still not making any. I was given provera to induce a period and took clomid on days 5-9. I’m now at day 12 and having lots of abdominal discomfort. I hope that means I’m ovulating! I’ve had a lot of strange side effects this time around that I don’t remember experiencing last time. I haven’t slept in several days…at all! Anyway, I hope it works this cycle! and good luck to all others out there TTC!
Hello everyone,
I am currently taking Provera for 10 days to force a period. I will then go on Clomid for 5 days. I have not talked to my doctor too much about it. I was just told to call the office on the first day of my cycle and that we would go from there. I have read a lot of these stories and was thinking of asking him if I could start at 100mg on days 3-7 or if that would actually slow the process down. My unit is deploying in about two months so I only have two Cycles to make this happen. My husband and I have been TTC for about a year now and I am just not ovulating on my own. He has two sons from a previous marriage so we havent even checked him at all at this point. I have 3 more provera pills left and then its on to the Clomid. I have read a lot of success stories and I am very excited to try this. I have high hopes. Good luck ladies.
Hi! I took a round of clomid and got a postive pregnancy test. I went in for blood tests to get it confirmed. Yes! I am pregnant, but… my HCG levels are lower than desirable. Does clomid affect HCG levels? At 4 weeks the level was 74 and at 5 weeks the level was 633. Should I be worried?
hello, I have now taken Clomid days 4-8 and I am on CD12. I am using ovulation detection tests to try to track when I ovulate. Once I get a possitive result I am to make an appointment to test my Progesterone level and see if I Ovulated. My docotor told me to have sex every other day CD11-21. My husband and I are doing great with sticking to the plan, so I really hope that it works. I will keep you all posted.
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the clomid doses/timing. Last month, I took clomid days 3-7 and this month I took it 1-5 (without consulting my doc) and now he is telling me that my ovaries are enlarged but he says not to worry that I will just have a weak cycle. Please advise if you can.
hi all i have been diagnosed with pcos since i was 16. me and my partner decided we wanted 2 try for a baby back in 2007, no look natrually concieving so the doctor has put me on norethistrone for the space of 2 weeks to reboot my periods as i hadnt had a natural period for over 3 years. i am at the end of my norethistrone and soon will b starting on clomid. the doctor has prescribed me a 50ml clomid starting on day 2 of my period to day 6. i have worked out when i should be ovulating so all i can do is keep my fingers crossed!! good luck 2 all trying 2 concieve through clomid. plenty of baby dust ************
Hello everyone, I just thought that I would update you all on my cycle. After the Clomid I was using the OPK’s to predict ovulation and they just do not work for me. I would get a possitive one time and then the next would be no line at all and then the line would come back. So, I stopped using them. I did get a progesterone test done 7 days after that happend and it was only 2.8. I did however have a temp spike a couple days later and that is what Iam going with for my ovulation date. That was Saturday the 6th of June, 2009. Iam now on CD 33 and 12 DPO. I have taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. TCOYF software is telling me that I did have a Triphsic tempeture shif that could mean that I am pregnant. So, only time will tell. I will try to keep you all updated.
