RU-486 Abortion Pill Blamed for Teen's Death

Sunday September 21, 2003
According to the Contra Costa Times the family of 18-year old Holly Patterson is blaming the controversial abortion pill, RU-486, for her death. Like many teenagers, Holly was afraid to tell her parents and family about her pregnancy and went with her boyfriend to her local Planned Parenthood where she was given the RU-486 abortion pill. She died of what her father said was a "horrible bacterial infection." Holly's death is currently being investigated by the Alameda County Coroner's office.

The abortion pill has been available in France since 1988. In the United States, the abortion pill was approved by the FDA in 2000. Over 150,000 women have used the RU-486 abortion pill since it's U.S. approval. There remains great controversy and debate about the RU-486 abortion pill, even among women.

What do you think about the RU-486 abortion pill?
