Chocolate Improves Blood Flow

Tuesday March 27, 2007
Researchers have found another reason for eating dark chocolate. In a recent small study, participants were divided into three groups. During three six-week periods, each group was given one of three mixes, a Hershey's chocolate mix with sugar, a Hershey's chocolate mix with artificial sweetener, or a placebo whitch contained a sweetened whey powder mix to see how blood flow was affected. Each participant's blood flow was checked before and after consumption of their chocolate mix. Those who consumed the artificially sweetened chocolate mix had the largest improvement in blood flow with a 37 percent improvement, followed by the group who consumed the chocolate mix with sugar who experienced a 23 percent improvement. The placebo group saw a 12 percent reduction in blood flow according to an article published on Playfuls.com.
