Why You May Need a Colposcopy

Colposcopy is an in-office procedure used for diagnosis, and sometimes treatment, following an abnormal Pap smear. In most cases, abnormal Pap smear results occur due to vaginal inflammation or infection. This is usually confirmed by colposcopy.
