I think another very good point to make is to let your nail technician know if you have any medical problems that may interfere or worsen with any service you may receive. As a manicurist for the past 10 years that has been the number one problem for me, even though I ask if there are any problems, some clients feel like they have to lie or I won’t perform the service. That is simply not true. Any good tech will find a way to accomodate for the service unless it is a condition that requires a doctors care.

Being in a healthcare profession it shocks me that nail salons can practice as they do. If one of our instruments merely comes in contact with the skin of a patient it must be sterilized or disinfected properly. Tests are run monthly on disenfection and sterilization equiptment monthly to make certain it is working properly. I stopped getting my nails done due to the fact the instruments and equiptment are not properly sterilzed and disinfected. Maybe nail salons should have to take some OSHA sterization classes as healthcare workers are required. It is frightening what you can come in contact with at a salon.
