Certain Women More at Risk for Cervical Cancer

While it's impossible to predict which women will get cervical cancer and which won't, we do have something to help us understand whose cervical cancer risk is higher. We know that women who have certain risk factors face an increased risk of getting cervical cancer, and although several factors play a role in determining cervical cancer risk, just one factor -- having the human papillomavirus or HPV significantly increases an individual woman's risk for cervical cancer. Now, we know there are other risk factors that can increase your risk of developing cervical cancer -- find out what raises your risk!

It does concern me some that certain daughters born to mothers between 1940 and 1971. I was born closer to the end of the spectrum in 1963. Both of my parents are deceased, so I don’t even know if my mother ever got prescribed DES during her pregnancy with me. However I do go to the OB/GYN annually for routine check-ups.
