Increase Your Heart Disease Awareness
February is National Heart Disease Awareness Month. Activities are planned throughout the month that are designed to increase awareness about heart disease and women. These events and activities include National Go Red for Women Day on Friday, February 3, 2006 and on February 25, 2006 the 2cd Annual Day of Dance, a 4-6 hour event held in 30 cities across the U.S. and sponsored by the Spirit of Women.
In the U.S. 500,000 women lose their lives to heart disease each year. In fact, 1 of 3 women eventually dies of heart disease; it's the number one cause of death among both women and men. Interestingly, more women pass away annually in the U.S. due to heart attacks than men (who were traditionally considered the ones to have fatal heart attacks.)
