Sore Incision After 6 Months

"I had an abdominal hysterectomy and colposuspension 6 months ago. I am still feeling sore under my scar it hurts to touch and also when I urinate I get a dragging pain in my pelvis... my Gyno thought it may be my bladder, but test results were negative. I also have an infection come up over the scar, my GP sent a swab to the hospital and it came back saying I had 2 bugs, she gave me antibiotics which didn't help. I've been back today and have been given a different antibiotic, my GP says both bugs are resistant to different antibiotics. I am worried that these bugs could be causing the soreness beneath my scar. Where do these bugs come from? Did I pick them up in hospital? Anybody out there who has had any similar problems?"

Hysterectomy Questions

"I am interested in the opinions of woman who have had hysterectomies: do you think the hysterectomy has affected your ability to have orgasms? What other complications have you experienced from hysterectomy. Did you have a choice when it came to removal of uterus and if you had a choice would you make the same choice?"

Sex After Hysterectomy

"I would like to hear from others who have had a hysterectomy - vaginal - complete removal of organs. Are you able to achieve an orgasm?"

Hysterectomy, Bladder Suspension, & Sadness

"I am scheduled to have a vaginal hysterectomy in a couple weeks for excessive bleeding. Since menses began, always had heavy periods. Just had my second baby at 39. After I finished nursing, the floodgates opened. Dr. sees nothing abnormal on ultrasound, but recommends hysterectomy as alternative to b.c. pill. I am also having laproscopic surgery to birch a prolapsed bladder at the same time. Is it common to be torn about removing an organ that does not appear diseased?... emotionally I'm sad about losing my uterus... is there anyone who has had these two surgeries simultaneously?"

Insurance Approval Delay & HRT

"I am 42 with a fibroid 4 cm. I have very heavy bleeding, clotting, back pain, and cramps... I urinate frequently. I had a tubal ligation and they removed a fibroid the size of an orange in 1987. My mother at the age of 46 had a hysterectomy with fibroids the size of an head. My sister also had a hysterectomy at the age of 44 because of endometriosis. My mother also has had breast cancer. My two questions are, why is the insurance company taking so long to approve my hysterectomy? And what type of HRT should I take because of my family history after the hysterectomy?"

Is There An Alternative?

"I may sound like a real wimp here, but all this Internet research has me scared. I thought hysterectomies were no problem. I have a partial hyst. scheduled in January... The reasons the Doctor suggested it was to alleviate painful periods, intercourse, and uterine prolapse. What are my alternatives? It seems the reason that all this has happened is from my last pregnancy. I had twins at full term, and it seems that my muscles are just shot, and can't hold all the weight of my bladder and uterus. I've tried Kegel exercises to no avail. Is it possible that my problems could be fixed by just repairing the muscles "down there".
