This is Not Your Mothers MenopauseAbout.com Health's Disease and Condition content is reviewed by the Medical Review Board
What's the most important thing that you think women should know about menopause? Women should realize that it's NOT a disease!!! And that we all have the responsibility to do the research to find out what our individual needs are at this time in our lives. There's so much information available to us now, but it's still extremely confusing and frustrating, so we need to calm down and start sorting through it all and not give up until we understand what will be the best path to take. Also realize that it's not fatal and it IS going to get better! The second most important message I have for women is.....talk to your daughters!! Help prepare them for this time in their lives....it's going to happen to every single woman from now to eternity and there's no reason for them to be in the dark as we were. Remember....This is NOT your mother's menopause! What kind of feedback to you get from people who see Minnie? Unbelievably positive and enthusiastic! I hear from younger women quite often and even men! I save all the comments and have a lot of them posted on my "comments" page as well as my guestbook. Out of thousands of comments, I did receive one from Australia that said: "sorry to rain on your parade, but I find many of them sexist and ageist -and that AIN'T FUNNY! Aren't there any feminists left in America?" I wrote back to her to find out why he felt this way, but she didn't respond. I would really like to know if more women see "Minnie" this way. What are your future plans/goals for Minnie Pauz? The main goal is to have the cartoon bring some laughter and relief of tension to as many women as possible. For "Minnie" to be the undisputed representative of women in mid-life (not JUST menopause). The way I plan to do that is not as simply stated! I am looking at syndication (meaning newspapers), licensing (a line of clothing, linens and products that would ease menopausal symptoms), publishing (books, calendars, greeting cards). Right now I'm looking for investors to help make this all happen. It's just a matter of time. You have T-shirts, mugs, personalized framed cartoons for sale on your site. Are your products available in any retail outlets? At this time, my merchandise is limited to what I have online. Except for anyone who might live in Oxford, MI, where T-shirts and mugs are available at Lynn's Hallmark Store! As I mentioned above, a savvy investor would be a major factor in making merchandise available worldwide. For more of Minnie visit Dee's Minnie Pauz site where you can browse through all the Minnie's. Which Minnie Pauz cartoon is your favorite? Here's mine... I wonder how Dee knew? Many thanks to Dee Adams for sharing her story, and for bringing some humor to this thing called menopause. More About Menopause Created: December 14, 2003 |
