Sexual function and sexual desire are rarely affected by tubal ligation or vasectomy. Most men and women who undergo permanent sterilization do not experience any change in sexual function or desire. In fact, patients often find that libido and pleasure are slightly increased after tubal ligation or vasectomy. This may be due, in large part, to the fact that fear of unwanted pregnancy is considerably diminished by permanent sterilization.
