While both tubal ligation and vasectomy are reversible, those who are not completely sure of their lack of desire for future parenthood should not choose permanent sterilization. Reversal is expensive and the success rate for vasectomy is extremely low, while the rate of successful tubal ligation reversal is about 70 percent.
