A Woman's Choice
"I am very pleased that RU 486 has been approved. They
have using it in overseas for a number of years already. It
makes the choice up to the woman where it should be."

Birth Control Failure
"I get sick of hearing, it's a choice before you get
pregnant or just use protection. I wonder how many abortions
are performed because of failed birth control. I got
pregnant by my boyfriend who had had a vasectomy. How much
more protected could I be?"

Abortion Is Wrong
"I totally disagree with this new pill. I agree that a
women should be able to make her own decisions but I feel
that abortion is WRONG! I am 27 years old now but I got
pregnant when I was 17. It was hard but I never once
considered killing my baby. Yes, I was lucky enough to have
an understanding MOM but If she hadn't been I still would of
kept my baby.( He just turned 10 this month!) I just would
hope that anyone who is considering abortion by taking this
pill or otherwise would strongly think it through. Although
times may be tough, if you put your faith and trust in God
HE will always take what may seem as a bad situation to you
and turn it into something wonderful!!! Trust me- I speak
from experience."

A Teen's View
"I think having an abortion pill is not only wrong, but
very stupid as well. With this new drug being approved, the
rate of teenagers having unprotected sex will rise. Being a
teenager myself, I am certain that teenagers will feel that
they don't need to worry about becoming pregnant because
they can terminate their pregnancy easily by taking a pill.
Also, government officials are always saying how my
generation is becoming so irresponsible. If that is the
case, aren't they letting us become more irresponsible by
allowing us to engage in a very mature event and then
letting us "off the hook" by taking a pill? I think that the
more mature thing to do would be to take responsibility for
your actions, don't you?"

The Debate Continues
The FDA's approval of RU 486 won't end the controversy.
Several states are already looking to see what measures they
can take to stop the use of the abortion pill in their
states. Our canidates for president have strongly opposing
views on abortion, and both Gore (for) and Bush (against)
said during the first Presidential Debate that they will
appoint Supreme Court Justices who hold their views.
