Question: What Is Overflow Incontinence?
Answer: Overflow incontinence occurs when you are unable to empty your bladder completely during urination, causing “extra” urine to drip or flow uncontrollably after you’ve finished urinating. This type of urinary incontinence is rare among women.

Causes of overflow incontinence include:

  • Weak bladder muscles
  • A blocked urethra
  • Tumors
  • Urinary stones
  • Nerve damage, often caused by diabetes and other diseases, may lead to the conditions that cause overflow incontinence

If you think you may have overflow incontinence, talk to your doctor about your treatment options.
