Question: What are Functional Ovarian Cysts?

Answer: Functional ovarian cysts are normal ovarian cysts that usually shrink and disappear by the time you have had two or three menstrual cycles. Women who are past menopause almost never have functional ovarian cysts because this type of ovarian cyst is formed during ovulation when eggs are produced prior to menstruation.
