Why Did Your Doctor Recommend Colposcopy?
I had two abnormal Pap smear results so after that it's standard practice for a doctor to refer a patient onwards for a colposcopy.
What Happened During Your Colposcopy?
It was actually quite cool, the doctor doing the colposcopy allowed me to watch everything that was happening on a computer screen. She and the nurse were all kinds of awesome, and they tried to make it as fun as possible.
The colposcopy itself was OK, a little uncomfortable in the way that medical implements, a camera and a doctor in your vagina will obviously not be on your "Top 10 Ways to Spend A Day" list. It was painless up until the iodine was which stung a little.
I also had a biopsy done and that hurt. Not there and then but once I stood up and moving around for about 24 hours after. It made me crampy and I kinda felt like I'd been punched in the pit of my stomach. It's 4 days now since the colposcopy and I'm still experiencing light bleeding from having the biopsy done.
