Miss

I had a partial hysterectomy when I was only 25 years. Luckily I had my children already. But things aren't the same anymore. I am now 31 and feel trapped in a body of 60 I am always tired, irritated and no interest in sex. Sometimes I get dizziness and my back hurts. Does anyone of my age have the same experience... Is there anything I can take to help me

dont do it unless you have cancer

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was genetically tested for BRCA gene. I was positive. BRCA carries a 20 times the normal chance for ovarian cancer....SO you guessed it, I had a total hysterectomy. I am 53 and thought I would not feel different. WRONG....If I had it to do over again, i would not...I would take my chances at ovarian cancer. I need to move on and try to regain some semblance of life but it has been one year now and the breast cancer was the easy part (I had a mastectomy) When I put my finger in my vagina and feel the sutured end, knowing there is nothing back there, my heart sinks. I do not have the drive and enthusiasm with life. My sex life is fine with toys and clitoral stimulation, but intercourse hurts...I hope it gets better. I am going to try bioidentical hormones. My breast cancer was estrogen positive so the doctors say I shouldnt. But I am at the point that I dont care if I get breast cancer again. I cant stand the sadness, lack of spirit....

Happy Hysterectomy

I had a complete hysterectomy on August 24th 2011. I was afraid, nervous, feeling know one cared, paranoid, and nervous, before and especially after surgery. I am so glad I read about other women experiences to know what i am going through is normal!!! someone is always going through something similar to your situation in this world. I thought I was going crazy, and now I know i am wasn't. Men and other people need to read these articles so they will understand our pain. I thank God for keeping me through this scary ordeal.

I didnt want to have it this year

When severe vaginal itching started i got a sign that something was wrong with me. I kept it to myself becoz my daughter is in 12th & needs me most but when d itching got incessant then i talked with my daughter regarding that that if i visit d doctor then my treatment would be started otherwise i could remain like dat just becoz of my worry about her career year. But my daughter didnt giv it a second thought n said dat i should consult d dr. quickly.I met d dr.n things had started fast. On 16 aug.11 my tumour was detected n on 22nd aug 11 i had my total hysterectomy .Now i am taking general rest as advised by my dr.But d itching still irritates me .WHY ? I dont know. The foremost thing i want to share with everybody dat i had 5 major surgeries earlier but they were all very painful .This time, i had implied[followed] practising of VIPASSANA just before n after my surgery which helped me in recovering fast.I thank God for my life which is very essential for my family.I got luv of my hubb

Confused

Post-OP 4 weeks and still a bit sore. But its the emotional confusion that has been the biggest challenge. I am in my late 30's and no children. THe surgery was necessary due to large painful fibroids. The finality of not being able to have children is a constant reminder and a major hit to my self esteem as a woman. I know all that I would say to someone in my situation but RIGHT NOW with the shoe on my foot, NOTHING makes any sense to me. Hope this is just for a season.

Kept my ovaries but...

It will be 4 weeks tomorrow that I had my hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and everyone said it would be "fine." I guess the difference for me is I had no symptoms, just an abnormal pap which led to a diagnosis of Severe Dysplasia from HPV. On top of that I've been married 19 years and only been with one man. The LEEP procedures didn't work and it was recommended by all that I have the hysterectomy. I had more than two opinions, because I didn't want to do it. I am 50 years old and have always been strong. I woke up after surgery a different person... One I don't really know. I regret not having more kids earlier in life. I cry privately 1-4 times a day. I never regretted anything before, but I am grieving not having more than my 2 children - even though that decision was from years ago. I can't shake the grief, remorse, resentment that I'm not whole anymore... I don't want to go on anti-depressants. I just want to exercise (which I can't - it hurts still) & be strong!

just had a partial 8/17 and...

It feels like someone stuffed my insides with shoes. Pretty uncomfortable walking. Always feels like my insides are hanging by a thread. Surgery was only 5 days ago. I hope this isn't permanent....

I am 39 years old and had a hysterectomy in June of 2011. I was able to keep my ovaries. I am 8 weeks post surgery and feel dynamite. I did experience some pain during ovulation but nothing that I couldn't tolerate.
