2 week post op

I had hysterectomy (kept ovaries) 13 days ago. I did fine first week 2nd week was a little rougher with back ache, more bleeding, and pain under my right rib. I have only taken Advil since day 5. I have had days with tears but over all (so far) it hasn't been too bad. I am so excited about feeling better! Reading these post have really helped me! Especially the positive experiences! I'll be praying for all the ladies that have had a difficult time.

How now

I had a hysterectomy to remove my uterus and cervix 3 weeks ago (early June 2011) due to large fibroids. Today, there was some brown vaginal discharge. Is it normal?

Life Is GREAT

I had a hysterectomy and cannot find anything negative about the experience. Before I had this procedure I was bleeding literally to death. Sex drive, what sex drive, it was taking everything I had to get out of bed without passing out from the constant sometimes severe pain. Swelling, pressure, burning, pain, pain, pain, Never could be happy because of the disruption in my life my reproductive organs were at war with me and winning. Immediately out of surgery I questioned why I needed pain medication when I didn't hurt, this pain compared to what I had been living with was nothing! Hot flashes, was having them before, very few now. No pain, life is so much better for me without all of the pain and constant bleeding. I thought I was going to die before, after I am living again! Wish I had done this sooner so I had not missed so much of my life! Good Luck ladies I wish you all the best!

What about prolapse?

I haven't had one yet, looking at a total hist. My mother in law is now having issues with her bladder falling out! She had her hist. Maybe 20 years ago. 3 of her sisters also are having netting put in or a cage so to speak to hold things in place. Why don't doctors check and see if netting should be done at the same time? My mom also needs mesh to hold things in place no one talks bout that in this forum that's a risk long after a removal of a body part. Somethings fall into the area where the uterus was.

DaVinci Hystetectomy

I had a DaVinci Robotic Hystetectomy 8 days ago. They took my cervix, uterus and tubes due to cancer cells. They left my overies. I was up walking the day of surgery and am left with 4, 1/2 long scars from the robot. Which are almost healed. I suffered the first 6 days with the typical pain, back pain, constipation...the usual. But today, day 8, I was driving my car and went for a walk around the block. :) Life is getting back to normal. I can go back to work in a week and a half from now. I highly recommend the davinci. Recovery time cut in half. And hey, ur doc is hands off. Jyst sittin behind the robot, like playing a video game....except he removed my silent killer. Im very happy and looking forward to a life where I can now wear white pants all month long...lol. At 40, I think I can still get away with that. Take care everybody, and remember, have a happy hysterectomy.

She is worse than ever HELP!!!

My wife has always been awkward, moody, bad atitude. But god help me after the hysto she is worse than ever! Apart from hitting her over the head with a brick what can I do? Take back to the doc's for some pills or something, as I will leave her and that would be the end of it.

Not the Same Now

I had a radical hysterectomy in December of 2008 (cervical cancer) and have not felt the same since - I feel worse. No energy, extremely tired, sex drive not near as strong, and sleepless nights. I can't tell it did a thing for me! But I had to have one. Not sure what to do to get back to my old self, or am I just getting old (will be 47 in September).

Partially Happy With Hysterectomy

I had my surgery in March of 2010, five days after my birthday. What a wonderful birthday present, because I was in horrible pain suffering from endometriosis and I had 16 fibroids & was a bad anemic.Due to all the bleeding I had suffered a stroke in 2009 and was told it was necessary to have the surgery or I would have a heartattack next and possibly die. I made to see 43 years old. The only problems I expierenced is weight gain in my breast & stomach area. I went up 2 cup sizes. According to my husband that was a plus. I no longer have a monthly cycle I consider that a plus. I have been trying to get rid of the belly. As for the sex life, I have not lost my libido as a matter of fact, I have began to want sex from my husband even more. This after having 3 children & loosing one. However, I am deeply concerned with the weight I've gained in my stomach area. Prior to the surgery I never had a big stomach. Has anyone else run into the same problem and if so did you find a solution? .
